Friday the 13th The Game is raising its level cap, presumably in an effort to entice players back to the game. Developer Illfonic also teased a few other future add-ons for the game, like Jason Skins and Counselor Clothing, but the level cap seems to be closest on the horizon.
Currently, the Friday the 13th level cap is 100, but it will jump up to 150 in a future update. Hitting level 100 was enough to unlock all of the various Jason skins in the game, as well as the different cosmetic items for Camp Counselors. In fact, most of the meaningful unlockables were revealed early on in the leveling system, and getting to level 100 was more a representation of one’s fandom.
While Illfonic and Gun Media did not detail the various steps on the road to 150, they did promise new Jason skins, Jason kills, camp counselor clothing, and future additional content will be unlocked along the way. Like getting to level 100, it’s safe to assume that a lot of the “game changing” items will be front-loaded to ensure parity between players, but 50 levels worth of content should keep Friday the 13th fans occupied for a while.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear when this level cap increase will take place. Gun Media has already updated its Friday the 13th content road map, but a new Jason is slated to arrive in the game after the New Year. It could be that Gun Media will bump up the level cap and then fill in the various unlocks afterwards, but it seems more likely that the studio would do everything in one swoop. But if the level cap increase is so far off, one has to wonder why they would tease it now.
Nevertheless, there is new Friday the 13th content on the horizon, including the release of the Virtual Cabin. Initially planned to release with the game back in August, Virtual Cabin was a space for players to see their accomplishments, interact with each other, and be in the game without worrying about Jason. Unfortunately, the Virtual Cabin didn’t make the game’s launch, but Gun Media used the extra time to ensure the feature is as expansive as possible.
Another feature that didn’t make launch but will be added soon is the single player. A true single player won’t be in the game, but there will be scenarios for players to complete outside of the multiplayer setting. In fact, players should get their first taste of single player when the Challenges demo releases before Christmas.
Friday the 13th is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
