Now that Gun Media and Illfonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game is out in the wild on PC and consoles, it looks as if publisher Starbreeze Studios and developer Behaviour Digital are set to compete somewhat by bringing its own asymmetric survival horror title Dead by Daylight onto Xbox One in the near future. As it so happens, the game director, Mathieu Cote, recently announced the news regarding the title’s leap from PC to Microsoft’s current-generation platform through Xbox Wire.
For those unaware, Dead by Daylight is comparatively similar to Friday the 13th: The Game in that multiple players can take on the role of survivors while one gets to be the killer hunting them down to brutally eliminate them once and for all. Instead of Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees, however, Dead by Daylight offers fans a variety of choices in the way of virtual assassins as the role of either the Trapper, the Wraith, the Hillbilly, the Nurse, the Hag, or the Doctor, with each having their own unique abilities.
While Dead by Daylight’s murderers row might seem a bit generic to some, Behaviour Digital put out DLC several months ago adding Halloween’s Michael Myers to the cast of killers. Not only did the psychopathic “Shape” make his way into the game, but also the film series’ long-running survivor Laurie Strode and the location of Haddonfield were incorporated as well.
All things considered, with Dead by Daylight currently holding a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, it’s a safe assumption to make that the survival horror title will make a decent splash on the Xbox One upon its release. Of course, that is if it isn’t marred by server issues like its rival Friday the 13th: The Game was when it launched across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One last week.
Dead by Daylight is currently available for PC and has an Xbox One version planned to release sometime in the future.
