There’s good news for Planet Zoo fans this week as Frontier has revealed more about their plans for the game. After teasing us last week with the news that animal talks are coming soon, we now have a new DLC pack to get excited about as well.
The Aquatic Pack is set to be released on December 8 and will include five new animals as well as jungle-inspired scenery and a brand new challenge zoo. It will be accompanied by a free patch that brings animal talks, another timed scenario, and a few new features.
Planet Zoo DLC packs have always given us five new animals and the aquatic pack is no different. You’ll be able to add King Penguins, Giant Otters, Grey Seals, Dwarf Caimans, and Diamondback Terrapins to your zoo. The latter is exhibit-based while the others can be housed in habitats and seen through below-ground observation points.
To ensure the animals are well cared for, the pack also adds a range of regular and aquatic-themed scenery as well as murals, sculptures, and even waterfalls. You’ll also find a brand new timed scenario set in Oregon that will see you revive a water-themed zoo.
The accompanying free content, update 1.4 is coming on the same day and includes a few much-requested features. In addition to the animal talks, you’ll also find a water temperature regulator system and underwater feeders. While these currently have limited use outside of the aquatic pack, Saltwater Crocodiles can use the feeder and the team aims to expand its use in the future.
In terms of new features, there’s a new management screen for Transport rides, that will help you better manage your zoo’s transport infrastructure, as well as a multi-select tool for Animal Storage when in franchise mode.
Finally, everyone can enjoy a new look for their zoo with new paths, letter font, foliage, and decals. All players will also be able to enjoy a new timed scenario set in the Philippines which focuses on building a zoo in the mountains with a focus on conservation awareness.
Planet Zoo: Aquatic Pack will be released on December 8, 2020, on Steam and the Frontier Store. The free 1.4 update will also arrive on December 8. The Aquatic Pack requires Planet Zoo to play.
