Fujifilm X100S - 4.0 / 5

A raft of improvements, yet some issues

At arm’s length: picture perfection?

To recap

The X100S has moments where it represents the pinnacle of high-end compact cameras. But it’s not faultless: it does cost a small fortune and is perhaps difficult to justify due to Fujifilm’s own X-E1 model, while close-up macro shots at wide aperture settings fail to be sharp. Autofocus is faster and image quality is better compared to 2011’s X100 model, but we do wish there was a larger screen, slightly smaller build and increased autofocus accuracy to finish off this specialised package.
