G2 Esports resigns the entire roster for their League of Legends, Rocket League, and Rainbow 6 team, remaining a part of G2 until at least 2020.
The three rosters have found incredible success in their respective games. The League of Legends team made the World’s Finals in 2019. The Rocket League team dominated rival NRG in spring and took second in the 2019 World Championship. G2’s Rainbow 6 team is considered as a top 3 team in the world. The organization’s dominance extends across esports and believes that this success will continue with their current rosters.

“We feel an incredible sense of pride each time partners, players, and fans decide to stick with us through the years,” says CEO Carlos ‘ocelot’ Rodriguez. “Our League of Legends, Rainbow 6, and Rocket League teams are sought after by organizations from North America, Europe, China, and SEA alike. Renewing their agreements with us underlines how great of a relationship we have with them and it certainly gives us that same feeling of pride. We hope to continue to make our players, partners, and fans happy throughout the years.”
Players in the organization seem to be happy about staying place. Rocket League player says he is “super excited to be continuing our journey with G2.” Players and coaches are making jokes about the long term commitment, with League of Legends coach Fabian ‘Grabbz” Lohmann saying “After this I’ll probably be qualified to work at any Zoo in the world.”
Esports moves incredibly fast, with teams making roster moves every year. You rarely see individual players stay with one team, let alone an entire roster. G2’s commitment to its current roster shows how well managed the organization is. While other organizations have up and down years, G2 always remains in the conversation for the best. Ocelot understands what needs to be done in order to build a winning team, across all esports, and pursues that harder than most other organizations. This also sets a precedent for the industry. Teams consistently fight to stay relevant, and they do this by abandoning rosters that work in order to gamble on something new.
