Actor Kristian Nairn, best known for his role as Hodor in the HBO original series Game of Thrones, reveals his favorite video games in an interview with Game Informer.
Over the last 20 years, video gaming has grown to become one of the largest entertainment industries in the world. People of all walks of life find common ground with video gaming, with celebrities like Ronda Rousey, Henry Cavill, Matthew Perry, and more getting in on the action as well. Now yet another celebrity gamer has opened up about his enthusiasm for video games, with actor Kristian Nairn, known for playing Hodor in Game of Thrones, revealing his favorite games in a recent interview with Game Informer.
Nairn has been a gamer for most of his life, but right now, he is spending his time with two different games. He is mostly playing the new Legion expansion for World of Warcraft on his gaming laptop, in addition to the mobile game King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare on his smartphone. World of Warcraft seems to be his favorite game overall, as Nairn spoke very highly of it and Blizzard during the interview.
Nairn’s enthusiasm for video games has helped land him some voice acting work in the industry. His voice has been added to King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare, and he also voiced a dungeon orc in the Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft. Nairn described his experience voicing a character for World of Warcraft as “a dream come true.”
When he’s not taking acting gigs, Nairn spends most of his time touring the world as a DJ. While being a touring musician is surely a memorable experience, the downside is that he can’t conveniently play console games, so Nairn sticks to his laptop and phone for his gaming needs. In terms of other games he’s played on his phone, Nairn was once a big fan of the popular Angry Birds game, and previously competed with Isaac Hempstead (Bran Stark) on the set of Game of Thrones to see who could get the highest score.
Despite his love of video games and his experience working on them, Nairn was left out of Telltale’s Game of Thrones game that started in 2014 and ended last year. In the interview, Nairn bluntly stated that he didn’t care about the game since he was not involved, and has never even played it to this day. Perhaps if Telltale discovers Nairn’s history with video games, maybe the studio will figure out some way to include Hodor in the second season of the Game of Thrones game, even if it is just for a short cameo appearance.
