Games Workshop has announced something precious this week with the launch of its new website MyWarhammer and its one login to rule them all.
It’s a busy time for GW at the moment, and they show no signs of slowing down. This Saturday marks the launch of the latest release of the popular tabletop wargame Warhammer 40,000, now in its 9th Edition! To go alongside there is a new Launch Box, Indomitus, that is still technically limited edition, but only just, as GW has backtracked on its ‘when it’s gone, it’s gone.’
Plenty of other 40K releases are in the pipeline to empty my wallet, support the release of the next few weeks. Age of Sigmar, their Fantasy focussed game, also saw the 2020 edition of the General’s Handbook. The annual ‘refresh’ clarifies and streamlines the existing rules and introduces some new play formats. GW hasn’t forgotten about all the Bloodbowl as there are two new teams to join the roster as well as the ninth issue of Spike, focussing on not one team but three for a change! New units, new rules, and new plays.
With all that going on the latest announcement from GW came as a surprise to us here in the Bunker. They are launching a new website, My Warhammer, At the moment it is only open for registrations but from what we can tell it will be the One Login to rule them all. It brings together logins for all three of their main sites, Games-Workshop.com, ForgeWorld.co.uk, and BlackLibrary.com. It is going to be the only way that you can access the app which released this Friday (July 24) in time for the big push the next day.
It’s not clear what else we can expect, but as this will be the new way to access the three main sites we expect there to be a merging of account records so that all your orders will be in one place, assuming they can overcome any data protection and security issues this may bring. It will allow GW to better understand their customers (i.e. track your orders and interactions when logged into a GW site) so they can better serve their customers. We hope to see more engagement with their fans and put together a better community site to bring people together, not just sell them more stuff after all community is about the people!
Registration for My Warhammer is live now and you can read out take on the new Warhammer 40,00 App here.
