Final Fantasy 7 Remake has only been confirmed for PS4 since its initial announcement at E3 2015, and we haven’t seen any sign of that changing beyond vague hints that it could only be a timed-exclusive. Until now, that is. GameStop Ireland has posted a listing for an Xbox One version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, possibly leaking that the long-in-development game will be coming to Microsoft’s console as well as PS4.
The listing includes screenshots and pricing information, with the ability to actually pre-order Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One. It’s quite possible that this listing was added to GameStop Ireland as a mistake, but it’s also possible that the gaming retail giant has leaked that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the Xbox One.
Video games being leaked on retail websites is nothing new, especially this close to E3. It’s possible that Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference on June 9 will include the announcement that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Xbox One, and GameStop has spoiled the surprise. There’s also a chance that an Xbox One version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be announced during Square Enix’s E3 2019 press conference on June 10 as well.
Before any Xbox One fans get too excited about Final Fantasy 7 Remake, though, we must stress that this listing is far from a confirmation and again, could have been posted in error. As it so happens, this isn’t the only potential Final Fantasy 7 Remake leak that’s popped up ahead of E3.
Another leak claims that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have a playable demo released to the public around E3, and that the game is actually on track to launch by the end of the year. Other rumors point to Final Fantasy 7 Remake not coming until 2020 at the earliest, though, so fans will just have to stay tuned on that front.
If this GameStop Ireland listing for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One is accurate, then it’s likely fans will learn about it in an official capacity come E3 2019.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is in development for PS4.
