Jin Sakai is known as a great samurai in Ghost of Tsushima but he is also a wonderful flutist! While exploring the world, you may find a few other aspiring musicians. When Jin plays his flute alongside them, he goes along with the melody in harmony.
During our journey, we found someone practicing the flute in Ogawa Dojo, likely trying to block out the noise of someone hammering the wall right next to him. This adds personality to the world, but Jin can join in on the fun and take a break from his epic quest against the Mongols.
While it depends on timing, the result can be bliss. It’s not perfect, but the higher pitch of Jin’s playing compliments the lower tone of the man’s performance. The flute can be played at any time by Jin by swiping left on the touchpad.
If you want to try this yourself, the placement of the flutists seems random. When trying to capture more footage, he disappeared from Ogawa Dojo without a trace! He packed up and began to play elsewhere!
There are many more details to Ghost of Tsushima’s world, as well, like how Jin reaches out to feel the grass while riding, or how blood flows in the water. In fact, it has been praised for its authenticity to Japanese culture. Famitsu, a famous Japanese gaming magazine, gave the Western-made title a perfect score. In addition, the Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi thought it was the kind of game that should have been made in Japan. He called them “rather amazing” because they were able to “tickle the fancy of Japanese people more than Japanese people.”
The game also did very well in Japan. The technically impressive Ghost of Tsushima has been a big hit for Sony critically and commercially. PlayStation Japan mentioned that the game exceeded sales expectations nationally and worldwide. It also became the fastest-selling new IP from Sony, beating out 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn.
Ghost of Tsushima is currently a PS4 exclusive, and no word has gone out about a PC port just yet. Hopefully, it will continue the trend that Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn has set.
