“The Tower of Babel” is the name of the final map in The Shores of Hell episode of the original Doom, released way back in 1993. The level features the tower itself, along with a boss battle against the formidable Cyberdemon. The tower is also apparently located within Babel – a region in the Umbral Plains of Hell.
The level is also alluded to in the 2016 Doom
. In fact, it’s fully playable as a Classic Map that’s unlockable within the “Lazarus Labs” level, but features updated enemies and play mechanics aligned with the modern reboot.
