For all you long-time Tomb Raider fans out there, there’s an Easter Egg in the 2013 series reboot which you will wholeheartedly appreciate.
While this little surprise has no doubt been uncovered by many hardcore fans of the much-loved action-adventure series already (seven years is a long time), some of you may have missed it along the way. So here it is:
If you manage to get your hands on every one of the GPS caches which you find scattered across the island of Yamatai, you’ll get treated to a sound that any fan of the second Tomb Raider game will recognize. Upon picking up the final GPS cache, that same familiar chime that plays in Tomb Raider 2 indicating you’ve stumbled across a secret will ring out.
Lara will also let out her classic exclamation of joy which always accompanies the latter - “Ah-ha!” - this time delivered by Tomb Raider (2013)’s Lara Croft voice actress, Camilla Luddington.
With it, Lara also says there is “a note” inside, and the game informs you that you’ve unlocked some Art Gallery content as a reward. But the greatest reward is still certainly the throwback to the original Tomb Raider era of the late 1990s, which any of us who grew up consuming all of Lara’s games will appreciate hugely.
