The antagonists from Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 have a real-world connection. Greg Bryk played the psychotic cult leader Joseph Seed in Far Cry 5, continuing the franchise tradition of having a complex villain. Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito is playing “El Presidente” Antón Castillo in the upcoming Far Cry 6.

The Far Cry franchise is one of Ubisoft’s biggest properties and is known for its exotic locations and all-out action. Since Far Cry 3, the villains have become the centerpiece when it comes to marketing and promotion. They command respect and drive the story of the game. Quite often, your character is just reacting to their actions and trying to find a way to beat them. Whether it’s the insane Vaas Montenegro, the cunning and calculated Pagan Min, or the vengeful Joseph Seed, the villains steal the show with big personalities. Giancarlo Esposito now takes on the mantle in Far Cry 6.

Strangely enough, both actors play villains on a TV show called Jett. The show is a crime-drama centered around the former thief Daisy “Jett” Kowalski, who’s just been released from prison. She wants to go straight but is forced back into the game by gangster Charlie Baudelaire, played by Esposito. We’ve heard the story of the ex-con who wants to go straight countless times to the point of fatigue. This show puts a fresh spin on it with a sexy, pulpy attitude that keeps you on your toes with all the twists and turns. Everyone seems to be having a blast, and Esposito does what he does best in a nuanced and menacing role.

Bryk plays another villain in the show called Miljan Bestic. He’s a Moldovan lawyer residing in Cuba. Charlie hires Jett to steal a ring from him, but things go wrong, and she ends up working for him too. Jett has to play cat and mouse game between these two criminals while working for both of them.

Far Cry 6 marks the first time Ubisoft has approached a big name star to be the face of the franchise. Esposito already has Gus Frings and Moff Gideon under his belt, so he should pull it off easily. He can always get tips from Bryk if he needs to.
