Someone has discovered a rather unique-looking Toad sprite hidden in the recently released Paper Mario: The Origami King.

Supper Mario Broth, a blog dedicated to uncovering random and hidden facts and details in the Super Mario franchise, tweeted about the discovery on July 31, 2020. In the tweet, the blog explained that in Paper Mario: The Origami King, players can find Toad’s face while looking through a telescope at Overlook Tower. Upon first glance, this face just appears to be an extreme close-up shot of Toad. However, it turns out that this face is actually part of a uniquely designed Toad sprite whose full-body form can be fully seen from extracting it from the game’s files.

As it turns out, the face belongs to a Toad sprite with an extremely enlarged head. So even though it may seem like it was just a zoomed-in shot, it is actually just part of a Toad with a rather large face.

Since Supper Mario Broth’s discovery, the tweet has gained traction among Mario fans; at the time of writing, it now has 27.8k likes and 5.5. retweets. It’s 308 replies are also full of some gems.

Some fans saw the newly discovered Toad sprite and decided to turn it into a pretty hilarious reaction meme.

Others couldn’t help but notice some similarities between this unique Toad sprite’s face and other objects.

And some even got a little creative and decided to alter the design a little bit.

Even though this large-headed Toad can’t actually be seen while playing Paper Mario: The Origami King, at least this lovely image exists on the internet forever.
