The amount of detail put into different pieces of Animal Crossing: New Horizons furniture boggles the mind. From mounted fans that each has their own wind physics to the mechanics of how New Horizons decides which color furniture pieces players can acquire, there’s no denying that the developers have invested heavily in integrating small details into the game to keep things fresh and interesting.

And that includes making sure you can play pinball in-game. New Horizons has a variety of gaming furniture pieces, such as dartboards, old-school arcade fighting games, and of course, pinball machines. Although the ball isn’t visible at certain angles, it’s possible to play a real game of pinball using the furniture piece.

As demonstrated by Twitter user @Lesbearian14, the ball in the machine has its own physics and can be smacked around when players interact with the furniture piece to move the flippers. The ball will even realistically ricochet inside the machine’s cabinet, though there isn’t any way of scoring points. The pinball machine will make noises to accompany the ball ricocheting and the flippers activating.

Players who can’t wait to pick up a pinball machine of their own can look for the furniture item to appear in an upgraded Nook’s Cranny or trade with another player who has it. The machine comes in five different colors: white, red, blue, black, and brown, and costs 2,700 bells to purchase.

There are other houseware items similar to the pinball machine that can be interacted with in-game, for example, the foosball table seen in Lesbearian14’s video. Whether islanders can play entire games with them is unknown, but players intrigued by the pinball machine can go ahead and start trying out similar furniture items to see if they work.

Integrating a physics mechanic for a furniture piece as small as a pinball machine is absolutely incredible. Nintendo has gone above and beyond for New Horizons, that much is clear, but discovering all the small details they went out of their way to put in the game never fails to impress.
