Duke Nukem may not be a man who cares about your opinion, but Gearbox Software certainly does. The developer recently put out a quiz asking folks who’ve played Duke Nukem Forever to point out what they liked and disliked about the game in what is likely an attempt to shape the next Duke Nukem into a more likeable product. While a public survey isn’t the norm for game developers, we applaud Gearbox for simply going out and asking some questions, which hopefully will yield positive results for the development team.
We weren’t the biggest fans of Duke Nukem Forever (read Game Rant’s Duke Nukem Forever review), but we like to see a developer take initiative to improve its future products. The Duke Nukem series has amazing potential and many fans have great memories of the older games – and, of course, there are those who were satisifed with the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever. Now that Gearbox can start from the ground up on a new Duke title, we’re looking forward to what the developer of games like Borderlands and Half-Life: Opposing Forces can really do.
The quiz keeps things short and simple, asking users what system they played the game on, then branching out into a few simple questions like “Did you like Duke’s sense of humor” and “Did you like the two-weapon inventory?” With just two pages of actual questions, it only takes about two minutes to give the developer some feedback. Players can also give their name and email address to be entered in a drawing for some Gearbox swag, though we have no idea what the prizes will be – we imagine if you said you hated the game, they’d love to send you a bust of Duke Nukem from the Balls of Steel Edition, or perhaps an eccentric painting.

Duke Nukem Forever achieved good sales despite the mainly negative reactions from around the board, and with Gearbox ramping up for a sequel (despite what may have happened to fan-confidence in the series), it’s going to be interesting to see how much anticipation will be built for the next Duke Nukem.
