With the end of the Countdown Cup, the Overwatch League gets set for the last two weeks of regular season matches before the end of season playoffs begin. Like they did for the Summer Showdown and Countdown Cup, the final two weeks of matches will feature a hero pool and the season playoffs will allow all heroes to be utilized. The four heroes out of rotation have been announced, and it looks like dive will be going away for the next two weeks.

Genji and Tracer are the two damage dealers out for the final two weeks of the regular season while Zarya is out of rotation for the first time all season. Brigitte is the support out for the next two weeks and she has now been removed five times. Seeing Tracer and Genji unavailable is always a bad time, but the recent nerfs to Genji would have possibly affected how much teams ran him moving forward. Still, he has been an integral part of the most successful comps since the Summer Showdown and his electric, big play capabilities will be missed.

With this group of heroes out of rotation, it seems like double shield will once again reign supreme. Of course, it’s impossible to tell what goes on behind the scenes with the various teams and any type of comp is possible. Either way, it will be interesting to see what comps rise to the top throughout the next two weeks.

Even though hero pools have gone through many iterations, both successful and not, the two weeks of them followed by two weeks of none seem to have worked the best for the 2020 season. It allowed for varied comps and the two week rotations have elevated teams play as coaches aren’t scrambling as much to find the best comp possible in only a weeks time. This is the last hero pool for 2020, but it seems like they will be continuing for the 2021 season. No details of how they will be implemented next year have been announced, though.
