Genshin Impact is a gacha game, which means that new characters are coming out just about every month. Now that the game has been out for over half a year though, some older characters feel like they have heavily slid behind. While some of these were always considered low-tier, with powerhouses like Hu Tao releasing, it’s even harder to keep these characters on your team.

This is especially sad since all of the characters have such great designs, and there are tons of fans who actually love the starting team. Many believe that characters who’ve been around since the beginning will be buffed in the near future, and the ones in the list below could really use a power boost.

14 Sucrose

Sucrose we the only four-star anemo character until Sayu was released. Sayu has quickly won over fans, and it doesn’t help that there are so many five-star anemo characters with much better field control abilities than Sucrose can offer.

Sucrose will likely fall even further behind as each new anemo character is added into the game, especially if the new character is another four-star.

13 Razor

Razor was one of the most popular characters when Genshin Impact first launched. Now that players have a larger selection of claymore users, though, Razor is starting to become less and less popular. The fact that cryo and pyro are dominant DPS elements makes his case even worse.

With Inazuma throwing out electro characters left and right, it seems like Razor will only fall further down the tier lists.

12 Diluc

Diluc was one of Genshin Impacts’ first five-star, and while he can still do solid damage, he isn’t Hu Tao or Ganyu. Diluc is no longer the most powerful DPS in the game, and players have taken notice. This especially became apparent when Eula, another claymore user, was launched.

While Diluc may still be a staple in some teams, with every new five-star DPS that is released, he gets less and less desirable.

11 Albedo

Albedo was a banner character that never really resonated with fans long. He was right in between Zhongli and Ganyu’s release, which probably didn’t help matters any. He is also a geo five-star, but in comparison to Zhongli, he isn’t as valuable on a team due to the fact he lacks a shield.

This is a bit sad as his character design is excellent, and his first story chapter was incredibly intresting. The community is still up in arms over whether Albedo is human or was made using alchemy.

10 Amber

Amber is a Mondstadt sweetheart and a pyro bow user that is a must when you’re exploring. She is one of the best characters in the game for solving pyro puzzles, and her interactions with Baron Bunny are the type of idle animations that make fans run to her defense.

The problem is that she is incredibly weak, and her burst needs a major revamp to contend with the other four stars. Once that pyro puzzle is complete, she goes back onto the bench until the next one. Amber deserves more.

9 Qiqi

Qiqi is an interesting character because she is considered the weakest five-star. Even those who have her sometimes choose to use Barbara instead, as Qiqi can feel a bit underwhelming at times.

Qiqi has a great design, and if her cryo orb was improved a bit, she would be a first-class character. Her main issue is the long cooldowns on her abilities and her non-intuitive playstyle. Her constellations help but mostly towards C6, which just isn’t a realistic goal for even most paid players at the moment.

8 Kaeya

Kaeya’s design has won over many, and his mysterious nature is perfect for keeping a bit of mystery in Mondstadt. The issue is that in a fight, he just can’t cut it. Outside of being a great cryo bridge builder, Kaeya has fallen by the wayside for most, especially since Rosaria’s release.

Kaeya should be given a little more punch so that he is up to par with the rest of the four-star cast. Otherwise, his place is cemented on the bench alongside Amber, being brought out only to deal with environmental problems.

7 Lisa

Lisa seems like she could have been a five-star, especially with her background about being one the best students Sumeru had ever seen. She is extremely effective as a support, but it’s hard to pick her when a character like Fischl is easily available and has better skills.

Lisa will only fall behind further without a buff, as Inazuma is the electro nation and will likely feature the introduction of even more powerful electro characters.

6 Diona

Diona is another well-designed character, and her backstory is unique. Sadly, she came out a few months before Ganyu, who is also a cryo archer, and set a new bar for the class. It’s pretty hard to choose Diona as she is quite split, being both ranged DPS and healer but not excelling in either category.

Seeing Diona get a buff in either area would at least help balance her out a bit more, as many don’t seem to rely on her cryo shield or her DPS.

5 Beidou

Beidou was another electro character released early on, and she is considered to be one of the weakest claymore users. It doesn’t help that Razor is also available and considered to be a much more powerful character in comparison, although he has no capabilities for support like Beidou does.

Some already think that Razor is falling behind, which really means that Beidou needs a power buff. She has solid utility, and a boost to her DPS would help her earn a place on more teams.

4 Xinyan

Xinyan was an instant hit when she was released, especially since she literally roasted enemies using power chords. Now that a few months have passed, it seems like Xinyan has fallen down in rankings. Many love her design, though, and the fact she is a rock star in Liyue just adds to her cool points.

Xinyan is a great character, and she should be given regular buffs to keep up with the creeping power scale, especially since we now have a wide range of powerful pyro characters.

3 Jean

Jean is one of the four anemo characters currently available in the game, and she is nothing compared to the other two five stars. Most players would easily pick Venti or Xiao over Jean, especially since the amount of damage they put out can hit insane numbers.

Jean does have the ability to heal and throw enemies, but it’s not as satisfying as creating a giant whirlwind. Her versatility just isn’t strong enough to compete with the raw power of Venti and Xiao’s DPS.

2 Noelle

Noelle is a geo claymore user, and like Beidou, is considered to be pretty weak. Geo is generally a support class, and Noelle can provide a small amount of healing to her team or summon a geo shield. Compared to other characters like Ningguang, though, she just isn’t that effective.

Noelle does try her hardest, as is said many times in the game, and deserves to grow into a more powerful character. She was the first character to get a two-part hangout. We’d love to see her story end with an ability boost.

1 Chongyun

Chongyun is a support claymore user who is about to move down another step thanks to the release of Eula. Chongyun is already pretty weak when compared with other characters, and many players aren’t fans of trying to build up his burst just to get a quick elemental reaction.

Chongyun is a great support character, but he could really stand to be a bit tankier in battle. He has potential but once again has been outmatched by the other cryo and claymore users that have come after him.
