The newest big anime game, Genshin Impact, is a ton of fun and is honestly deserving of all the popularity it’s been getting. While there are other games like it, this one feels like something special. It has a ton of amazing character designs, a million different puzzles, hours and hours of well-written narratives, and is adding new content and events at a pretty consistent rate.

But, it also has quite a few flaws, and that is not referring to the Gacha system, even with all the people throwing money at it. Genshin Impact is new and it’s clear that this isn’t the final product. In the lead-up to version 1.1, let’s mention some of the smaller fixes that a lot of players have been asking for, as well as some of the huge changes the game would absolutely benefit from in the long run.

10 Easy Fix: The Ability To Edit Keybindings

First and foremost, let players change their keybindings. Let them set Elemental Sight to anything but the middle mouse button, it’s uncomfortable and makes it awkward to use a super useful feature.

Let players set the aim-down-sight button for archers or the dodge button for people always holding shift. There are a million different ways including customizable keybindings would benefit the current player base but the most obvious reason is that it’s basically an industry standard at this point. Luckily, it seems like this fix might be here soon.

9 Major Overhaul: The Resin System

The Resin system is the topic of many debates on the Genshin Impact forums and sub-Reddit. Some people are totally fine with how Resin works in the current version of the game, while others are 100% livid that it hasn’t been massively overhauled already.

Now that the developer, miHoYo, has responded to the criticism, fans have even more to say. But, at the end of the day, the Resin system could be improved with a series of small changes that would add up to one big overhaul.

8 Easy Fix: More Differentiation Between Achievement Rewards

The Primogem rewards for Achievements in Genshin Impact is somehow both decently balanced and needs some fine-tuning. For example, most of the time, if an Achievement required a ton of work, such as opening all the Shrines of the Depths in Liyue, it’ll grant 20 Primogems. Meanwhile, the ones that are a tad easier will give 5 Primogems.

There should be a higher tier for Primo-rewards for absurd ones like getting to Friendship LVL 10 with four characters. Yet, there isn’t, and some seem really unbalanced as a result. That Friendship one actually gives just as many Primogems as the one for being killed by a boar.

7 Major Overhaul: Server Lag/Issues

Genshin Impact has probably gotten a lot bigger than the developer was expecting. Maybe miHoYo were expecting it to be a Worldwide success from the first second it launched, but it’s much more likely that they had some realistic expectations. That said, the game did blow up and the servers are struggling just a tad.

Genshin Impact isn’t super multiplayer intensive so that helps a lot, but a lot of players have been experiencing pretty consistent lag, disconnects, and other issues. There can also be delays during crucial moments, like when trying to switch to Barbara to heal the team, but the actual input does not go through until a few seconds later. By that point, Chungyun is already long dead.

6 Easy Fix: Let Players Break Rarer Materials Down

As players get further and further along in their Adventure Ranks, it’ll become increasingly clearer how much they’ll need to grind for Talent Books, Ascension Materials, and more. Luckily, players can use an Alchemy Bench to combine several lower-rank materials into one of the higher-rank versions.

Usually, it’s about a 3-1 ratio, and it really comes in handy for Talent Books in particular. But, what would be even more helpful is if players could also break down those Higher-rank materials back into the lower rank versions. It isn’t a feature that the game is suffering without, but its addition would only improve the experience.

5 Major Overhaul: More Co-Op Content

Maybe it wasn’t the game’s initial intention but Genshin Impact including some more co-op content in any form would do wonders for its time in the limelight.

This could take many forms; a version of the Spiral Abyss people could climb together, a Mario Party-style series of minigames, or even just a way to fight against friends to see whose party is better built. Plus, if stuff like this was added, players would finally stop jumping into random co-op games just to steal their crabs.

4 Easy Fix: A Few UI Changes

This is another thing that miHoYo has already promised. Genshin Impact works well, for the most part. There are bugs but none of them are game-breaking; however, the design for a couple of UI elements could be better.

For example, the game could let players see the stats of artifacts they are feeding into other artifacts so they know if they are getting rid of the worst one. Stuff like this would make the game feel 10x more polished than it already does.

3 Major Overhaul: The Shared Ascension Materials

Something has to change with these Talent and Ascension materials. There’s no reason so many characters of different elements should share the same Talent Books and no reason they pop up so infrequently throughout the week. There are a staggering amount of characters who use the Resistance Books, including Diluc, Mona, and Razor, all of which use different elements.

It comes off as punishing the player for using diverse teams rather than incentivizing players using four characters of one element to try and branch out. Imagine if all the Pyro characters used Resistance books instead, people would actually be pushed towards using characters of different elements and trying out Elemental Reactions without the devs having to say a single thing.

2 Easy Fix: A Way To Revive Characters In Spiral Abyss

This is just another small thing, but it would not be too absurd for there to be a way to revive a character in Spiral Abyss. While it is supposed to be difficult, the slight lag the game sometimes has and the absurd damage enemies can do in a half-second can combine to kill off a character instantly even if the player asserts they switched before the attack hit.

It wouldn’t have to be much, just change the Benediction of the Abyss that heals all characters for 25% so that it also revives dead characters at 10% or something. That way, players would still have to be careful switching to that character unless they had a heal ready.

1 Major Overhaul: The Daily Gameplay Loop Past AR 25

Lastly, there has to be some sort of change to the daily content Genshin Impact provides. Before players hit AR 25 or hit the end of the Main Story Quest, there is a staggering amount of things they can do every time they open GI. But, players who quickly got to around AR 25-30 have, on average, already done most of the exploration stuff and don’t have many ruins, chests, or quests to clean up.

So, what are they supposed to do with their time in Genshin Impact? Well, right now it boils down to farming trackable elites, using up all their Resin on domains or bosses, and doing their daily commissions, which sounds like a lot, but that takes about 20 minutes at most. And, that time becomes even shorter once they implement the new fast travel system.
