With the PlayStation 5’s release just around the corner, a number of games are announcing free upgrades for the next-generation console. The most recent game to announce that it will be receiving an upgrade is miHoYo’s Genshin Impact, promising aspects such as backwards compatibility, better graphics, and faster loading times.

As part of Genshin Impact’s version 1.1 announcement, the developer studio revealed that the update will release on November 11, a day before the PlayStation 5 releases, and will add a whole new batch of content for players to experience such as new characters, activities, quests, an in-game event called Unreconciled Stars, and more. As previously stated, the update will also seek to improve the PlayStation 5’s user experience, essentially making Genshin Impact look and perform better on the next-generation console. Considering how colorful and vibrant the game’s world and cast of characters already looks on current-generation consoles, it will be interesting to see how all of that will be taken to a higher level with the version 1.1 update.

One of the update’s improvements will aim to decrease loading times for Genshin Impact on the PlayStation 5, which should appeal to those who don’t like waiting around, especially when loading up the game and logging in on the initial load screen. However, despite the upcoming update seeking to reduce loading times, there will still be some kind of loading and connecting-to-the-servers due to Genshin Impact being an online service-based game. Nonetheless, quality of life improvements and general upgrades should be able to improve the game overall.

Aside from introducing support for the PlayStation 5 version, the upcoming update will also add four new characters into Genshin Impact. On top of that, the update will also tweak the Original Resin system by increasing the maximum storage limit from 120 to 160 while keeping the refresh rate the same. Other changes that players can expect to see are improvements like, an easier way to see which character has which artifacts and weapons equipped, an item that allows players to set teleport waypoints, and much more. Ultimately, Genshin Impact’s version 1.1 update will be its first major enhancement that will add more content for the game.

With version 1.1 set to release on November 11, miHoYo previously outlined the release dates for other version updates which will be on December 23 (version 1.2) and February 2021 (version 1.3) respectively. With a robust amount of content and PlayStation 5 support coming out for Genshin Impact in the near future, fans of the game are going to be in for an interesting experience.

Genshin Impact is currently available on mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, and is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
