The Genshin Impact manga is a major part of the game’s story and acts as a prequel to the game. The manga reveals important story elements about many of the Mondstadt characters, introduces Dottore, one of the Fatui Harbingers, and shows some upcoming characters. The manga is foreshadowing some major events and topics that have yet to come up in the games, including the darker side of Teyvat.

While the Liyue chapter did show some of the darker sides of the world, the story is likely just warming up as the manga introduced many dark themes that every player should make a note of.

8 Dottore’s Human Experiments

Dottore is the most disturbing resident of Teyvat so far. He is introduced by showing human experimentation and seems to have little if any empathy for those around him. Dottore will even kill those under him without a second thought and seems to have no moral line when it comes to finding specimens.

Dottore is going to show up in the game, and when he does, a much darker storyline will likely follow him. Dottore will likely have to answer for his crimes, and it’s a bit doubtful that anyone would want him as a playable character.

7 Fatui Power Grabs

The Fatui have mostly been slinking around in the shadows for the Mondstadt and Liyue chapters. While the harbingers have caused a bit of chaos stealing the anemo gnosis, they haven’t really been shown being completely underhanded. The Fatui in the manga are sly politicians that try to worm their way into the governments of other countries.

They are willing to achieve this goal any way possible, which they haven’t really been trying to do so far. The Fatui politicians will start making power grabs sooner or later. This will likely start to happen more frequently as the harbingers gain even more power.

6 Diluc Drawing Dottore’s Attention

Diluc got into a small fight with Dottore while masked in the manga. Dottore takes interest in Diluc’s vision, mentioning that it is different from normal ones. This seems to imply that some vision users may be canonically more powerful or even possess hidden powers.

This will likely be brought up again, especially when the story starts to reveal more about the harbingers and their power.

5 The Deev Revealed

The Deev have only really been mentioned in the manga. While their mention was brief, it is implied to be a very well known force in the universe. From the way the manga is worded, they are supposed to be the evil version of the seven, and people fear those that work with or who have been touched by them.

People live in so much fear of the Deev that they are even willing to send their children off if they fear they have been influenced by them.

4 Collei’s Powers

Collei is a character in Genshin Impact that doesn’t have a vision but wields the power of an archon. This was because of experiments done on her and other children at a young age. Unfortunately, this power is out of control, causing her to harm those who cross her path without any notice.

Her power was subdued by the end of the manga, but there are supposedly others like her wandering around Teyvat.

3 Cyno’s Introduction

Cyno is a genius character from Sumeru who helps to take control of Collie’s powers. Cyno is an upcoming playable character and is now involved with the strange experiments that the Fatui have been doing behind closed doors. It has been revealed that Cyno is a poll arm, and he has a very different outfit from the other characters in the game.

Players can expect a Cyno banner to appear in the future, likely when Sumeru is finally brought up or introduced into the game.

2 Collei Moving to Sumeru

Collei moved to Sumeru at the end of the manga, setting up the region to be a huge part of the story. Sumeru will likely dive deeper into the themes explored in the manga and will be loaded with tons of answers about what the Fatui might actually be trying to do by attacking the archons.

Sumeru is also a huge deal as it is the dendro nation, an element that has not yet been introduced into the game. Sumeru is set to be the fourth region in the game, releasing after the Inuzuma expansion.

1 Archon Residue

One of the most interesting things introduced in the manga was the existence of archon residue. The residue can grant powers to those who it is injected into, turning them into an unstoppable force. The only problem is that the residue doesn’t seem to be compatible with the normal citizens of Teyvat, causing them to lose control of the power and be in pain.

The manga doesn’t go into how the Fatui have gotten a hold of this substance or what it is used for. Archon Residue will appear in the game and may even alter the way enemies will take on the Traveler. It’s unlikely that any playable residue characters will be added to the elemental roster, though.
