Genshin Impact offers players seven different elements to experiment and play around with. Each element has strengths and weaknesses, but what makes them unique is the way they interact with each other. These elemental reactions help to diversify the seven elements and make them all viable in certain situations, but it is generally agreed upon that Pyro is one of the better options all around. Pyro can react with every other element (Anemo and Geo technically react with it rather than vice versa) in the game, making it usable in most situations, and even has the added benefit of being able to melt snow and ice, burn wood, and light torches and campfires.
At the moment, there are six different characters that use Pyro in Genshin Impact, but there are at least two more on the way in future updates. Ironically, Pyro is home to both the weakest character and one of the strongest in the game, but due to the utility that the element provides all the characters are useful to have around. Players interested in including a Pyro character or two in their team comp should be sure to take a look at the options and make note of how to get each of these characters.
Amber
Aside from Paimon and the Traveler themselves, Amber is the first playable character that players will meet in Teyvat. As the only Outrider of the Knights of Favonius, she plays an important role in introducing the Traveler to the many residents of Mondstadt. Players obtain Amber automatically, and she is an iconic character thanks to her strong presence in trailers and promotional material. Unfortunately, Amber is consistently ranked as the worst character in Genshin Impact, so she should only be used if there are no other options. Despite this, being a Pyro Bow user makes her great for solving fire-based puzzles, and she also helps players with stamina while gliding.
Xiangling
Xiangling is Liyue’s most famous chef, and another character that many players probably already have, as she is awarded for free if players are able to beat Chamber 3 Floor 3 of the Spiral Abyss. Xiangling’s abilities make her well suited as either a primary DPS or support DPS depending on what other characters players have, as her abilities are able to persist even after switching to a different character. Given that she can be obtained for free and it is easier to level up her constellations since she’s a four-star character, Xiangling is a solid option for players that want to see elemental reactions galore.
Xinyan
Though players wouldn’t expect Rock and Roll to be so prevalent in the fantastical world of Teyvat, Xinyan has made sure that it is. Despite being a Pyro user, most players will probably end up using her as a powerful defensive support character. Her abilities allow her to create Pyro shields, reducing damage from enemies that attack. With enough constellations, she can be a powerful DPS character as well, but her limited time nature could make that difficult for some players.
Bennett
As the only member of Benny’s Adventure Team, Bennett is also the best member of Benny’s Adventure Team. Joking aside, his Elemental Burst ability is so good that he makes a perfect fit for any team comp. Not only is it able to pump out high bursts of damage occasionally, it also buffs and heals the rest of the party. When paired with another Pyro DPS character or even Hydro or Cryo characters, Bennett can really take a team’s damage to another level. It’s for this reason that, despite actually being a 4-star character, he is sometimes considered to be one of those that should be a 5-star.
Klee
Everyone’s favorite bomber, Klee, is one of two currently available 5-star Pyro characters. With her variety of bombs and powerful attacks, Klee makes for an incredibly potent main DPS character. When supported by someone like Fischl or Bennett, she can deal outrageous amounts of damage in a large area, making her an easy choice for some players. Unfortunately, she is a limited time character, and her event banner has already come and gone. At the time of writing, there’s currently no way to obtain Klee.
Diluc
Diluc has been dominating Genshin Impact tier lists since the very beginning, and there’s a good reason for that. As a Pyro user with a Claymore, Diluc’s attacks are able to hit in wide sweeps and set fire to everything in his path. He is easily one of the best main DPS characters in the game, and players that have him would be remiss not to make use of his powerful skills. His abilities can be enhanced even further with great support characters, and he’s a very popular character even beyond all of this.
Iansan (Upcoming)
Iansan is an upcoming character in Genshin Impact’s fifth Act, called “Incandescent Ode of Resurrection.” Not much is known about her as she was only briefly shown in a teaser trailer showcasing the upcoming arcs in the game, but it is clear that she will be a Pyro character. Players have speculated about what type of weapon she will use or how she will make use of her Pyro Element in a different way than other characters, but so far, nothing is confirmed.
Pyro Traveler (Unconfirmed)
Though not yet released, Genshin Impact will eventually allow players to travel to the region of Natlan, the home of the Pyro Archon Murata. More likely than not, players will be able to visit the Statues of the Seven in this region in order to change their element to Pyro. What exactly this will look like is difficult to say, though. The Traveler will probably still use a sword, making him the second Sword/Pyro character alongside Bennett, but beyond that not much can be said. Regardless, as more regions are added to the game, players will be able to customize their Traveler even further, choosing whichever element works best in their team.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.
