Genshin Impact has a pretty good multiplayer community going. There is almost always someone who is willing to help you take on the Oceanid or farm some Fatui agents for ascension materials. There are whole Discord channels dedicated to the multiplayer aspects of the game, and you can learn a lot about a player just from knowing who the character they play with most is.

While not everyone is going to fall into the standard playstyle that’s associated with the character they play the most, fans have grouped mains into several categories, some which we will go over below as they are extremely common to come across during a multiplayer session.

14 Kazuha: The One Who Brings it All Together

Kazuha mains aren’t going to be the ones running into the action first. Instead, they will let you make the first move and then build off of it. They use your elemental set-up to pull enemies into a single spot while dealing swirl damage, making them easier for the team to target.

Once they have the enemies where they want them, they will unleash their burst to pulse swirl damage and make quick work of bosses.

13 Ayaka: The Freeze Queen

Ayaka mains are patient when they need to be, but the second they see an opening, they take control of the field. By just using their dash, they can freeze hydro-infused enemies to keep them help in one spot. This makes it much easier to keep smaller enemies right where they want them.

Ayaka mains are also pros at dodging boss attacks and can use their burst at the perfect moment to help cause team reactions.

12 Tartaglia: The One Who’s Always Prepared

Tartaglia mains are ready to jump into battle at a moment’s notice, no matter the enemy type. Thanks to Tartaglia’s ability to easily switch between long and close-range attacks, these players are prepared to adjust their fighting style according to the party’s needs.

Whether you need a bit of support or a full-blown DPS, Tartaglia players are here to help.

11 Zhongli: The Protector

Zhongli mains aren’t just here to bring order to the battlefield; they are strategic and can protect that party from taking extra damage. Zhongli is the king of shields in Genshin Impact, and his mains know just how to work his shield, giving magic.

These mains may not be dealing huge amounts of damage at all times, but they can ensure you don’t die during a fight.

10 Barbara: The Team Healer

Barbara is one of the few dedicated healers in the game, and the people who play as her are generally concerned for the team’s well-being. Barbara players aren’t running into the action but rather doing the balancing act of keeping three other players alive while getting in small bits of damage.

These players know how to heal and can control just how well the party does during hard boss fights.

9 Diluc: The Fiery Leader

Diluc players are the type to lead the run into the action. These players don’t mind making the first move on enemies and are more than happy to take a little extra damage to guarantee reactions happen without a hitch. They usually like to talk with their teammates to ensure everyone’s on the same page.

Diluc players are powerhouses that are ready to quickly take on any enemies in their way.

8 Sucrose: The Reliable One

Sucrose players have your back, especially when taking on groups of enemies. They know just when to give you breathing room by sending the attacking group of Hilichurls flying. They love to help the main DPS whip up some swirl damage and are just generally happy to help.

Sucrose players tend to be patient and know how to wait until just the right moment to use their skill.

7 Hu Tao: The Close Call DPS

Hu Tao mains know how to live on the edge since they are constantly teetering on the edge of a game over. Hu Tao mains love to jump in to take damage so that their low health triggers a major damage bonus, and they heavily rely on teammates not to heal them at inopportune times.

Hu Tao mains will make you feel like you’re going to lose only to pull off an amazing win at one HP.

6 Diona: The Calculating Support

Diona mains tend to be the players that don’t mind sitting a ways away from the battlefield and biding their time. They know right when to shoot their charged shots and which enemies to apply the cryo status to, and balancing their shield is all part of the package too.

These players know when, where, and how often to use Diona and her various skills.

5 Ganyu: The Versatile One

Ganyu mains are incredibly fluid, as they can quickly switch between support and DPS roles as the party needs. Ganyu can either lead the charge or sit back and snipe the enemies as they attack the main DPS. Her elemental skill can even draw enemies together for a team burst.

Ganyu players are flexible and happy to work with their party to bring an easy victory to the table.

4 Venti: The Havoc Wreaker

Venti players are happy-go-lucky fans that love to wreak havoc on any enemies the team comes in contact with. Venti is able to push and pull enemies as needed. The player will gather up the enemies on the field with a smile, giving the team the perfect opening for a powerful burst.

Venti players are often playful, but when they need to control the field, it’s like second nature to them.

3 Beidou: The Reaction Queen

Beidou players are usually well-practiced and able to counter enemies with ease. These players know the movesets of enemies and can size up a battle before it even happens. They are happy to jump into the action to help trigger reactions along with the rest of their team.

Generally, these players are also cool-headed and won’t get overwhelmed in the middle of a hard fight.

2 Mona: The One Who’s Always in Control

Mona players are amazing at setting up the field how they want and then keeping control of it. Mona knows how to hold enemies in place for her teammates’ to keep hydro on enemies and time her burst to capture the field right where she wants it.

The players who use Mona are a master of timing and know-how to easily avoid damage.

1 Noelle: The Protective Tank

Noelle players are just happy to help out and are great at tanking. These players can pop their shield and pull enemy damage to give their teammates an opening for damage. They can also heal themselves when needed, although it won’t ever be able to replace eating food.

These players know how to keep the enemy pull on themselves and are happy to be the decoy.
