Genshin Impact is a huge game with a massive world to explore, lots of different characters to acquire, meet, and help, and a steady serving of regular content updates. It can be difficult to keep on top of the game’s regular activities, grinding, and special events.

However, if you want to focus on completing your Battle Pass, improving your characters, and being efficient, there are some things you can keep in mind, such as what plants to forage and when. Genshin offers a variety of flora and materials for players to collect, and some of it is harder to come by than others. Here’s a list of plants you should focus on collecting as frequently as possible, to ensure you’re always ahead of the game.

10 Wolfhook

Wolfhook is important to forage especially if you have Razor and are planning a build for him. Even if you don’t have him, it’s a good idea to get started on gathering this plant right away, because it only grows near Wolvendom.

While Wolfhook isn’t used for anything besides Razor’s ascension, that may change in future updates, so it’s good to head out to Wolvendom every few days to forage them. If you do intend to build Razor, you’re going to need nearly 170 Wolfhooks to maximize his ascension, so it’s best to begin foraging these as soon as possible, given their limited availability.

9 Violetgrass

Violetgrass can be a difficult plant to collect, but it’s used to ascend Xinyan, who is a fantastic fighter, and Qiqi. This plant is usually found on cliffs and mountain walls, making it difficult to collect. That’s why it’s especially important to keep an eye out for it while exploring, so you can grab it in Liyue over time without having to painstakingly hunt it down.

If you have some Mora to spare, you can also head to the Liyue Harbor pharmacy to purchase Violetgrass. They cost 1,000 Mora each, but it can be a good idea to grab them every time the shop refreshes. They also count toward the Battle Pass’s Liyue specialties, whether you buy them or forage them the old-fashioned way.

8 Qingxin

Another Liyue specialty, Qingxin flowers are found on top of mountains, making it a bit easier to forage than Violetgrass. Gliding through Liyue’s stone forests and hopping from mountaintop to mountaintop should be enough to grab a few, but actively searching for them can be frustrating, which is why it’s a good idea to keep foraging these consistently to save yourself the trouble of really having to search for them.

Qingxin is a very valuable resource, used to ascend two of the most powerful characters in the game: Ganyu and Xiao. You’re going to need a total of over 300 Qingxin if you’re planning on ascending both characters. Fortunately, these are also available at the pharmacy, making finding them a bit easier.

7 Valberry

Valberries in Genshin Impact, like some other materials, serve multiple purposes. In the past, the only characters that needed this material for their ascensions were Lisa and Noelle, and Noelle is definitely a powerhouse who should be invested in. However, the recently released Rosaria also needs Valberries, so if you hadn’t been foraging them before, now is a good time to start.

Besides that, Valberries are one of the few plants that grow in bunches, meaning you can find two to three of them at each spot. This makes them easier to forage, and it also means that if your Battle Pass time is running out, you should definitely go Valberry hunting to quickly gather those 100 Mondstadt specialties. Be wary, however, as they take multiple days to respawn.

6 Jueyun Chili

Jueyun Chilis are a Liyue specialty, making them worth foraging for the Battle Pass points alone. In addition to that, though, they have a variety of other uses. These chilis can be used for many different recipes, so if you’re the type of player to prioritize cooking, these will come in handy.

Jueyun Chilis are also used to ascend the pyro polearm user Xiangling. They can be bought at Wanmin Restaurant or found in the wild. One of the best places to look for them is around Qingce Village.

5 Silk Flower

Silk Flowers have only been growing in demand and usage. When Genshin Impact first released, these flowers were useful as a Liyue Specialty but also to ascend Xingqiu, who is arguably one of the best characters in the game. Now, however, the flowers are also used for Hu Tao’s ascension, making them even more valuable.

These flowers can be found in bunches around Wangshu Inn and the terrace at Liyue Harbor. You can also buy them from the boss of Wangshu Inn, Verr Goldet, or Ms. Bai at Qingce Village.

4 Dandelion Seeds

These can be easy to miss and you might feel hesitant to take the time to switch to an anemo party member, but dandelions are scattered all around the outskirts of Mondstadt.

They’re easy to collect and count as a Mondstadt Specialty, which means they count toward the 100 specialties you need to collect for Battle Pass points. If you’re pulling for Eula or investing in the Dandelion Knight, Jean, it’s absolutely essential that you get to collecting these. Both characters need them for their ascensions.

3 Small Lamp Grass

Small Lamp Grasses are one of those plants that you could strategically forage, because, at night, they emit a blue glow, which makes them easier to spot. This Mondstadt specialty is used in iconic recipes such as the Pile ‘Em Up. It’s also used to ascend two of Genshin Impact’s most powerful characters.

Both Fischl and Diluc need these Lamp Grasses to ascend, and whether you have one or the other, or both, you’re going to want to invest in them as they make an indispensable addition to any team. These plants can be found in Wolvendom, the Whispering Woods, and are sold by Flora, Mondstadt’s florist.

2 Windwheel Aster

The Windwheel Aster is a flower that can only be found in the Mondstadt region of Teyvat. It counts as a specialty for the region, so it’s a good idea to keep foraging them regularly in order to get your Battle Pass points.

This flower is also used to ascend the Traveler character, Sucrose, and Bennett, and given that everyone starts out with their Traveler, it’s best to start collecting these flowers early. Plus, Bennett is an excellent character so you’ll need even more if you want to build him. These flowers can be bought at Flora’s, and can also be found near statues at the Dawn Winery and Windrise, as well as in Stormterror’s Lair.

1 Cecilia

Cecilias can be difficult to forage because they mostly only grow in one area. These flowers can be found on Starsnatch Cliff and bought at Flora’s shop in Mondstadt, which means you’ll need to be on the lookout for them quite regularly if you want to ascend any of the two characters that need this plant.

These flowers are used for both Venti’s and Albedo’s ascensions. Both characters are limited five star characters, making them incredibly sought after and powerful in Genshin Impact. For their maximum ascensions, each character needs about 170 Cecilias each.
