Genshin Impact is beginning to show its dark underbelly by slowly pulling back the curtain on the deities and the sky hovering above Teyvat. Those who have played “We Will Be Reunited” are also becoming aware of just how dark the world may be. Darker parts of the lore are also shown in the manga, which deals with topics like human experimentation and the days of Mondstadt when it was ruled by a tyrant.
There are tons of theories swirling online about the true intentions of many characters in the series, and there are quite a few that fans can see swapping sides in the future. Here are those most likely to turn on Teyvat.
10 Bennett
Bennett is a happy-go-lucky teenager that has quite a mysterious history. He was found in a place that to human knowledge had never been ventured to before. His story states that the area was highly dangerous, and he was just an infant when he was discovered and taken to Mondstadt.
This, combined with the strangely bad luck Bennett has, could be a recipe for a future internal struggle.
9 Kaeya
Kaeya is one of the most deceitful people living in Mondstadt and doesn’t share his plans with anyone. He was originally a spy that was supposed to destroy the wine industry in Mondstadt, and he kept this identity hidden until his adoptive father was killed in an accident.
While Kaeya has come clean to Diluc, there is no proof that he won’t change his tune later on, especially with how secretively he acts towards the Traveler.
8 Albedo
Albedo seems to be foreshadowing that he will turn into some type of monster, and other characters in Mondstadt are wary of him. During his story quest, he seems to hint at the fact that he was created with the use of alchemy and that he may not be able to control the power that is inside of him. We also know that he is an incredibly powerful alchemist who can give life to plants around him.
Fighting Albedo is also brought up by Dainsleif, and some players firmly believe he will be a future boss.
7 Ningguang
Ningguang loves two things, Mora and Liyue. Due to her loyalty to both of these, it would be pretty easy to see her align with the enemy if the safety of Liyue is threatened. In fact, she may even align with the wrong side to help bolster Liyue’s trade even further or to get spoils for the region.
Ningguang is not a character who is interested in love, and she will fight hard not to lose her current position of power or the city she calls home.
6 Diluc
Diluc’s main goal is to shake down the Abyss Order and avenge his father. He isn’t afraid to break the law to find his enemies and has tons of resources thanks to his wealth.
With the twists the story is already making, Diluc could even end up aligning with another faction to get revenge. While this doesn’t seem as likely as Kaeya flipping sides, the potential for revenge is still there.
5 Xiao
Xiao is in a constant battle to control his bad karma and was controlled by enemy forces until Zhongli saved him. Now that Zhongli no longer has his Gnosis and Evil Gods are being awakened, it’s easy to see why Xiao may end up in trouble again, especially since he has so much negative energy in his body.
Yaksha turned against each other in the past, and there is still a living Yaksha that has yet to appear in the game.
4 Tartaglia
Tartaglia isn’t evil, but this could change if the Fatui ever put his family in danger. It’s also a fact that he was likely trained by someone in the Abyss order and could be forced to change sides at a later date. While he does believe in the Cryo Archon, his family is incredibly important to him.
A threat by the Abyss Order could easily get him to go against the Fatui or the other regions.
3 Paimon
Paimon is an anomaly in Teyvat, and it seems that no one truly knows who or even what she is. It seems that Paimon has done a lot of traveling as she is full of information. No one has bothered to ask where she is from or when she last visited the regions she is talking about, though.
Many players theorize that Paimon is the unknown god and will end up being the game’s final boss.
2 Qiqi
Qiqi is another character with a tragic backstory. She was killed in battle and brought back by the Adepti. Afterward, she lost control of her power and went on a rampage that ended in her being imprisoned for around one hundred years. However, she also has memory loss and doesn’t recall these events.
It seems like Qiqi has a lot of hidden power that is just waiting to be released, but if released in the wrong way, her power could lead to disaster.
1 Dainsleif
Dainsleif seems like a good guy until players learn that he isn’t all who seems after meeting the leader of the Abyss Order. Dainsleif seems to have had a past with Traveler’s sibling, and along the way, it seems like something might have gone very wrong during their adventure.
Dainsleif could easily turn out to be a final boss in the game or at least someone the player needs to defeat.
