With December already more than halfway through, Genshin Impact players have had time to grapple with the new Version 1.1 content, while gearing up for the next major additions. Version 1.2 is arriving in a few short days, and though Travelers have a general idea of what to expect, certain aspects, like a “Crown of Insight” seen in leaked and official images, remain unspoken for.
While many of the promotional materials highlighting the upcoming Genshin Impact updates are straightforward, sharp fans have taken note of small teases and hints that seem to be present in some of the shared images. One such tease is an oddly familiar-seeming item, apparently named the “Crown of Insight.”
After seeing what it looks like, some players might feel as if they recognize the Crown of Insight, especially if they took part in the recent Unreconciled Stars event starring Fischl. Unreconciled Stars introduced the Crown of Sagehood, one of Genshin Impact’s rarest Ascension Materials. In short, every playable character in the game has 6 different Talents. Most of these Talents can be leveled up, or “Ascended,” as the character becomes more powerful, with each Talent requiring different Ascension Materials.
The Crown of Sagehood is unique in that every single Talent in the game requires one Crown of Sagehood to reach Ascension Level 10. The item is made all the more valuable by the fact that it’s unobtainable through normal gameplay - the coveted Crown of Sagehood is only available from special Genshin Impact events. So thus far, even players who were able to complete the Unreconciled Stars event have only had a singular chance to earn one Crown of Sagehood, total. Now, as players who’ve seen this Crown may note, the Crown of Insight recently shown in Version 1.2+ images looks eerily identical to the Crown of Sagehood. As it turns out, it’s because they are the same item.
First and foremost, this means that players now have confirmation that the upcoming Chalk Prince and the Dragon event will grant a Crown of Insight/Sagehood. It may only be another single crown, but nonetheless, players won’t have to worry about being given an entirely new sort of event-exclusive material to collect.
Originally, the Crown of Sagehood was actually translated into English as the “Crown of Insight.” Yet, when the rare item was finally introduced to the game, miHoYo backpedaled and renamed the item “Crown of Sagehood.” Fans quickly took to social media to point out how the item had been unnecessarily “renamed” Crown of Sagehood, after being leaked/unofficially revealed (in English) as the Crown of Insight. Now, it seems that miHoYo has changed its mind again, much like how it recently decided that Zhongli is in fact worthy of five-star buffs.
The name-change continues to go entirely unacknowledged by miHoYo, but players can surely expect the item itself to remain the same. Whether or not Version 1.2 of Genshin Impact officially reintroduces the Crown of Sagehood as the Crown of Insight, players should make sure to snag one and focus on the important facts: these Crowns are a must-have if a player hopes to max out any of their favorite characters.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
