Pokémon GO continues to deliver despite the unrest and uncertainty in the world right now with some important raids taking place this week.

May 2020 was the month of the Throwback Event in Pokémon GO. Each week, trainers were afforded the opportunity to revisit the first four regions in the franchise’s history one after the other. Anyone who managed to complete every single level of research across all four weeks was granted an additional opportunity.

A fifth set of research tasks not only celebrates the Unova region, but it also introduced Galar versions of certain Pokémon to the mobile game. Tickets could be purchased for the event for players who failed to complete the four previous weeks of research. The good news, there is no time limit on completing the Unova tasks, even though the event technically ended this week. However, if it wasn’t activated before 1 pm on Monday, that ship has sailed.

For trainers who have completed the Throwback Challenge Champion event, or missed out on it, there is still plenty to do. Reshiram is still available in five-star raids and will be until the beginning of next week, at which point the legendary Pokémon will be replaced. Zekrom will take its place, but more on that transition and the second of Tao Trio’s debut next week when it arrives.

Speaking of raids, the eerie ice-type Cryogonal has returned to three-star raids. Although hard to do, Cryogonal can be taken down solo if need be, and we have everything trainers need to know about how best to do so in TheGamer’s handy guide. However, solo raiding will hopefully be a thing of the past soon enough as Niantic revealed this week that it is one step closer to introducing a feature that will allow trainers to invite friends to raids.

The final tidbit of information to hit Pokémon GO this week was information regarding its next Community Day. Niantic let players vote for which Pokémon they would like to see take the spotlight in June and July, and Weedle won the vote for June. The day’s bonuses were revealed this week and include 3x Stardust, three-hour-long Incenses, and the usual teased surprise related to taking Snapshots during the event.
