The summer 2020 promo for board game magazine, Casual Game Insider is well underway and they are giving away a free copy of the magazine.

The 60-page issue has an ironic feature on five iterations of the Pandemic games to entertain and distract you during the Pand… Never Mind! To be fair, it is an interesting feature that takes you back to the first Pandemic game’s origins in 2008 right through until last year’s (2019) Pandemic Rapid Response.

The cover feature is about a card game called Silver Coin by Bézier Games. This is the third in the series of seven ‘Silver’ related games. Rather than use expansions, the publisher has opted to create stand-alone games. It’s an interesting concept, but only time will tell if it will pan out.

Next up is an interesting article on some of the Board Game Rock Stars. It featuring the likes of Klaus Teuber and Richard Garfield, but spoiler alert, Steve Jackson and Steve Jackson didn’t make the list. This is followed by a quick run-down of the various types of gamers and where you might fit. There is a list of suggested games for you to try.

My favorite feature this time around has to be Robot Invasion. It looks into the convergence between tabletop games and digital technology. As a journalist, gamer, and developer its a subject close to heart. Each issue is different and I always find it amazing how much they manage to cram in each issue.

This issue’s Print n’ Play is Rolling Village designed D. Di Maggio and featuring art by Josh Huf. You can copy the sheets included, or visit the given URL to access a printable version.

The quarterly magazine is funded each year via Kickstarter and offers subscribers articles, reviews, and interviews as well as news on imminent releases. They are also regular attendees at gaming conventions providing an insider look at the games showcased. Finally, every issue comes with a free ‘print n play’ game. Digital subscriptions start at $10.
