Next week begins the Solstice of Heroes, the annual event that honors the great accomplishments of Guardians and also the midway point between summer and winter. It’s happening a little earlier this year than last and it’s going to stretch for four weeks instead of three thanks to the delay on Destiny 2’s upcoming Beyond Light expansion.

As with last year, the big draw for the Solstice of Heroes event is some glowing armor that will let your Guardian really stand out in the crowd. All Guardians will start out with a blue set of Solstice of Heroes armor that they’ll have to upgrade to Majestic Legendary armor by completing a set of objectives. But to make that Majestic armor glow, you’ll have to take it to the next level by upgrading it to Magnificent armor, and doing that will require you to complete some of the hardest content in the game.

Here’s a sampling of objectives that Bungie gave us:

  • Complete a Nightfall Ordeal on the Master difficulty. Complete a Nightmare Hunt. Complete Pit of Heresy. Win seven Trials of Osiris matches. (Not on a single Passage) Complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrow three times.

The good news is you won’t need to complete all of those objectives during the Solstice event. You just need to get the Majestic armor during the Solstice, but you can complete the Magnificent objectives at any time during the rest of the season.

Or if you prefer, you can forgo the Magnificent armor and just get the new Universal Ornaments that unlock at the Eververse after getting the Majestic armor. They won’t have the same white glow, but they will glow the same color as your elemental subclass, and they can be applied to any armor you own. They’ll even glow blue when Beyond Light arrives with its Stasis subclasses.

If you want more armor than what the quest provides, head on over to the new European Aerial Zone to get more random rolls. And don’t forget the new stuff at the Eververse, including a ship, two new sparrows, some summer-themed Ghost Shells, and some new emotes.

Oh, and there are also some brand new triumphs to complete for your Moments of Triumph seal. Don’t forget to grab those two during the Solstice of Heroes event! It’ll run from August 11 to September 8.
