It’s been quite a while since fans have been given any concrete information about Sucker Punch’s forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima ever since its initial trailer debuted during Paris Games Week 2017, but the title will likely be shown off in a major way at E3 2018. As a matter of fact, the game’s animation director, Billy Harper, recently teased the project’s demo at this year’s big industry event by sharing an image of a katana in use within a motion capture studio.

As seen in the tweet below from Harper’s official Twitter account, Ghost of Tsushima fans will find the aforementioned sword sticking out of what appears to be a plastic box of some kind for use during a motion capture session. The Sucker Punch animation director tagged “E3 2018” next to the forthcoming release’s title alongside the phrase “Soooooon”, indicating that the object will be on display in some capacity during the game’s showcase at next month’s event.

As of now, not much is known about Ghost of Tsushima other than the fact that its story is set in 1274, with the small Japanese island of Tsushima having fallen under the rule of Kublai Khan and his Mongol Empire. Players of the game will assume the role of the katana-wielding main character Jin, who is one of the last remaining samurai on the island, and he takes it upon himself to fight back against the intruders despite the fact that he faces overwhelming odds.

Taking all of this into consideration, Ghost of Tsushima fans are surely hoping to learn more about the title at E3 2018, and will hopefully receive some juicy gameplay details that they can sink their teeth into during the event. And with any luck, Sucker Punch will not only offer up a better look at PS4 exclusive, but also provide a concrete release date so that Sony fans can start saving up as soon as possible.

Ghost of Tsushima is currently in development for PlayStation 4.
