Ghost of Tsushima has a lot of content to explore, some more crucial to the storyline than others. The lighthouses are a unique combination of the two, with some acting only as a way to spread the legend of ‘‘The Ghost’’ to the citizens of Japan and some playing an important role in the main storyline.
Always located on the coast and in some of the more secluded areas of the map, lighthouses aren’t laid out for the player, either requiring some serious dedication or inside knowledge of their whereabouts. The latter saves a lot of time and frustration on the player’s behalf and gives them more time to get some other tasks accomplished, which is critical if a player is looking to fully complete the game.
8 Ariake
As players travel South East of Yoichi’s Slope, it will be at the very tip of the coast that the lighthouse will be found. Luckily, the path to the beach isn’t an empty one, with a fox den that lies at the halfway point.
Leading Jin to an Inari Shrine along the way it ends up crossing off 2 things on the list at the same time. Unlocking charm slots for the player with the shrine and lighting the lighthouse, all players have to do is follow the coastline down.
7 Tsutsu
This is an automatic introduction the lighthouses as players will encounter this in the storyline. Just south of Takuzudama Cemetery at Fort Ohira, The Tale of Ryuzo will begin and the first part of the mission involves sabotaging the alarm of the lighthouse.
While the location of the lighthouse is no mystery, players will have to use a high level of stealth as it is guarded with some enemies in the interior. Once finished, the cemetery has Singing Crickets and artifacts for Jin to loot.
6 Komoda
Komoda Lighthouse is visible if players complete the quest ‘‘A Mother’s Peace.’’ It’s beside Saicho’s Point and North of First Generals Field, only one path cuts through the grasslands and the lighthouse is at the very end.
Jin and Masako do free this area of Mongols and the storyline will veer players close after the mission is completed unless the extra content is more of an end game goal.
5 Kubaru
At the tip of the East coast of Toyotama near Fort Koyosan is where players will find Kubara Lighthouse. Players should know Fort Koyosan as they break into the area with Yuna on the ‘‘A Reckoning In Blood’’ quest.
Following the coast upwards is a surefire way to get there, with a few miscellaneous stops on the way. Another fox den is located just Northwest of the lighthouse so don’t fast travel away as soon as the light is ignited.
4 Akashima
Northwest of the Old Togo Rice Fields, players will find Fort Ito and the location of the Akashima lighthouse. Lord Shimura will be on the small island when you arrive and will climb the tower with you, stating that it’s ‘’time to send our message.’’
The island itself is pretty barren, but the Old Togo Rice Fields is filled with goodies and steps toward a number of trophies that are needed to complete the game.
3 Sago
Southwest of Fort Kaminodake, players will find the lighthouse at the northern crest of Sibling Bay. If players follow the path as soon as they cross the bridge at the edge of the fort then it’s a straight shot to the target.
With Kubara Forest to the Southwest, players will also find the location of the Kubara Haiku. Making the journey even more worthy, the haiku is located between the forest and woodcutter’s shelter. Luckily, collectibles and miscellaneous achievements usually don’t sit too far from one another.
2 Kin
Southeast of Iwai village, Kin lighthouse sits at the tip of the coast. Players must follow the road on the right at its farthest corner, remotely located with nothing to distract Jin. Only available in act 3, players will have to wait until the end game to light the fire and grow their legend.
While it’s not a 2 in 1 for the Pillar of Honor, there is one located near Kin village to the south. Once Jin pays respects, the Midnight Hanabi Sword kit will be unlocked along with it.
1 Jogaku
Yet again players have to follow a path, this time it’s East of Izumi Village. On the farthest tip of the map, looking out for enemies is required. Though a more stealthy approach is necessary, by this point players should be more than equipped to deal with the guards at the lighthouse.
This spot is crucial for Jin as he will use it to scout the Mongol’s prior to the Port Izumi battle, making it one of the more important lighthouses to visit. The northern part of the area is filled with tasks from Fox Dens to Shinto Shrines, players will have a lot to explore once the lighthouse is secured.
