It seems that one of the biggest PlayStation 4 exclusives might be arriving sooner than anyone thought, as an online retailer may have leaked the release date for Ghost of Tsushima.
The Swedish online retailer called Spelbutiken has listed August 30, 2019, as the release date for Ghost of Tsushima, which would give it the same release date as Astral Chain for the Nintendo Switch. Shenmue III is also due to be released at the end of August, which gives us cause to doubt the Ghost of Tsushima leak, as Shenmue III is only coming to PlayStation 4 and Windows, so it would make sense to put some space between the release of the two games. There are some users on Twitter who are doubting the validity of the leak, as Spelbutiken also recently listed a release date for Death Stranding, even though Hideo Kojima recently admitted that it has been delayed.
Ghost of Tsushima was first revealed in the Sony conference held during Paris Games Week 2017, but we were given a more in-depth look at the game during the Sony press conference at E3 2018, where a lengthy gameplay trailer was shown, giving the impression that the game was almost ready to be released.
Ghost of Tsushima is set on the island of Tsushima during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. The main character of Ghost of Tsushima is a samurai named Jin, who must learn to use the way of the Ghost in order to fight a guerilla war against the Mongolian army. Ghost of Tsushima will be an open world game that gives the player the chance to explore the island of Tsushima and experience Jin’s conflict in any way they desire.
There still hasn’t been any release dates given for Death Stranding or The Last of Us Part II, while Ghost of Tsushima still lacks an official release date. There are a lot of exciting games coming to the PlayStation 4 in the near future, such as Days Gone, but the lack of solid release dates for the other exclusive titles is making it hard to assume that they won’t be pushed back to 2020.
