Jin Sakai has all the tools to take down the Mongols invading his homeland. Jin is an excellent swordsman but Ghost of Tsushima also gives the player several options for long-range combat as well. No matter the playthrough, ghost or samurai, these projectile weapons are necessary for a flashy and stylish experience

Most of these projectile weapons are staples of the open-world “stealth” game, with the Assassin’s Creed smoke bomb and the Tomb Raider arrow types make an appearance. Even though we have seen all of these before, they all work well within Ghost of Tsushima.

12 Wind Chimes

Wind chimes distract one enemy at a time. They can be useful for isolating enemies and assassinating them without alarming their friends. Firecrackers, though, make wind chimes almost obsolete. They attract more people, which works well with the chain assassination technique. Plus, Jin can attract enemies by whistling for his horse making the wind chimes even more obsolete.

11 Poison Dart

Making the enemy spit out blood and die is one of the most grotesque things you can do in Ghost of Tsushima. The one benefit of poison darts is that it stuns nearby enemies in fear. The upgraded bow can kill enemies silently as well without the need to gather flowers to make ammo. The poison darts are cool in execution but there are easier ways to get the job done.

10 Black Powder Bomb

The black powder bomb is Ghost of Tsushima’s version of a grenade. They work great when combined with the firecracker or when enemies are bunched up. They are awkward to use and take time to aim, which makes Ghost of Tsushima’s other explosive weapon much easier and accessible.

9 Firecracker

Firecrackers are the optimal way to distract enemies. They work best when combined with other tools like the black powder bomb and hallucinogenic darts.

It makes you feel like a true ghost when you lure a group of Mongols to their death. They are also helpful for getting enemies out of the way so you can sneak through an area without being seen.

8 Half Arrow

Half arrows go with the first bow unlocked in the game. These do low damage and don’t penetrate armor. They work well for quick stealth kills via headshots and bothering Mongols as they run at you. The half arrow will be your go-to ranged weapon but it’s not as impressive as some of the other tools that Jin has up his sleeves.

7 Heavy Arrow

Heavy arrows are the exact opposite of half arrows. They are powerful, have longer range, and can penetrate armor. Heavy arrows are your friend in any sniper situation as long as there’s time for a longer draw. The bow for heavy arrows is long and cumbersome making it harder to handle than the half bow. Using it correctly, though, will result in some satisfying results - like sending enemies flying off their feet.

6 Fire Arrow

Fire arrows are a welcome, and pretty much required, addition to any game that features a bow and arrow. They are perfect for igniting red barrels and creating a grass fire to stop enemies in their tracks. Stronger enemies will be weakened by the fire, but they will eventually shrug it off. Still, it’s a good tool for thinning the herd when faced with a large group of enemies.

5 Explosive Arrow

The first time you use explosive arrows, you’ll be amazed at how effective they are. They will severely damage the intended target and make the surrounding enemies flare up in flames.

Sometimes the game will send a dozen Mongols after Jin, and explosive arrows are his best friends in this situation. Obviously, explosive arrows will not work well in a stealthy encounter but they can get you out of a sticky situation.

4 Hallucinogenic Darts

These darts will make any target go berzerk. They will start swinging at their teammates, sending a Mongol camp into chaos. Hallucinogenic darts are excellent for clearing out a camp without being seen. It’s a way to kill several enemies at once without the need for explosives. It’s also a good way to get the attention off of Jin so you can complete various objectives without enemy interference.

3 Smoke Bomb

Ghost of Tsushima’s smoke bomb works for both stealth and going on the offensive. They can save your neck if Jin is low on health by allowing him to escape. It also allows Jin to escape combat encounters and go back into stealth. Lastly, smoke bombs can be thrown in the middle of combat, granting quick assassination kills.

2 Sticky Bomb

Sticky bombs are like black power bombs except that they latch onto enemies. When upgraded, they can kill any enemy with one blast, even the brutes, and damage nearby Mongols. They can be thrown instantly with a tap of the button and are easily accessible. The only problem is the lack of a lock-on system making it difficult to aim at a designated target. It will stick to an enemy 100 percent of the time but sometimes its the weak archer and not the massive brute with an ax.

1 Kunai

After upgrades, the kunai can cause massive damage while stopping multiple Mongols in their tracks. They will either kill or stagger up to four enemies making them vulnerable to attack. Kunai are always the go-to weapons in a combat encounter.
