With all the content that this game has to deliver it will take some time to get through all the details. The hidden altars are one that will escape players’ minds unless they’re trying to complete the entirety of the game, offering almost no reward besides the Honor The Unseen trophy. This added to the fact that most of the altars aren’t even marked, leading to a horde of samurai bowing at every rock and statue they pass.

A few are just a small jaunt away from the path of the main story which is handy, or they also function as Pillars Of Honour, something that halves the work for vigilant Jin. Luckily, the game gives players a lot of different animations to go along with the altar, from frogs to flower petals, it’s always a wonder what will pop out next (but it’s probably fish jumping out of the water. Some of the searching has been done already, passed down so players don’t have to wander aimlessly. Still many more to find, these hidden alters will at least get Jin to the trophy and then some.

15 Tadayori’s Rest

Act 1 should bring players to Azamo bay, unlocking the tale the Legend Of Tadayori. Once the Mythic Tale has been completed it will lead Jin to the resting place of Tadayori in Houren’s Pasture, bowing to his shrine will send the purple flowers surrounding it flying.

14 Statue in Golden Temple

Another short walk from the main storyline in Ariake when Jin visits the Golden Temple. On the West side of the village there’s a large Kannon statue, climb the stairs and pay respects to get the altar.

13 Ariake Cemetary

Head West of the Kuta Farmstead and East of the Golden Summit Shrine, eventually players will end up a cemetery, bow at the sign and insects should twirl around Jin.

12 Kechi Fishing Village

Once Jin arrives at the small docks in Kechi, there will be a sign on the first dock for the altar. Once activated fish will jump out of the water, an easy find with no obstacles.

11 Komatsu Forge Cemetary

The cemetery in Komatsu Forge is home to another hidden altar.

Three totems are placed on the right side, once Jin bows a bird will appear and let the player know they completed the task.

10 Kashine Hills

Located in a small pond in Kashine Hills, SW of the dye merchant, an altar rests at the base of a stand-alone tree. Once bowed to fireflies will swirl around Jin.

9  Yoichi’s Slope

Luckily there’s a fast travel point in Yoichi’s Crossroads so it shouldn’t be too difficult. Right under the torii, follow the path and the altar point is at the end. Insects will circle and the player can continue.

8 Izuhara Clearing

A path runs through the entire rural area, somewhere along the path is a stand-alone tree, underneath that will be the hidden altar. Another bird should appear and land on the nearby rock to complete the task.

7 Old Kanazawa Marsh (2)

Along the side of the marsh in Umugi, the corner of the docks will have a hidden altar to bow to, once completed fish will jump out of the water like so many others.

Slightly West of this point, Jin will find a pillar of honor in the center of a flat field. Two birds with one stone, red dragonflies will appear when the job is done.

6 Omi Lake (2)

The center of the lake on the left shore, to the right of the fishing hut, will be where to find a hidden altar at the edge of the dock. Again fish will jump out of the water when bowed to.

The next altar is actually visible from the first one, on the opposite south shore of the lake is where players will find the next point. Fish is the obvious indicator and players get a 2 for 1 special.

5 Omi Village - Fathers Grave

Players will have to head to the Sakai graveyard to the North of Omi Village. Here Jin will find the grave of his father, as well as a hidden altar, writing a haiku while he’s there.

4 Kaneda Inlet - Pillar Of Honour

At the very shore of the Kaneda Inlet players should see a Pillar Of Honour just before the ocean, a double whammy as both tasks are completed at once. Crabs will burst out of the sand to notify achievement.

3 Cloud Ridge Shrine (2)

This is probably the quickest 2 hidden altars players can clear at one time, being 20 feet away from one another. Once players pass the burnt down bridge and continue on the path there will be a dark area with a three frog statue, bow and the frogs will appear.

Two seconds down the path on the opposite side is a smaller frog statue that will also bring the frogs out when bowed to.

2 Mending Rock Shrine

On the Isonade Coast, players should have stumbled across the long path to the shrine. Along this path to the right is the statue of a frog, bow to the statue and frogs will hop around the samurai.

1 Umugi Cove

The hidden altar is actually hidden in this one, players will have to follow the boardwalk to it’s most SouthWest point. Behind a large crate the top of the altar is peaking out, here players bow and fish will jump out of the water behind.
