About a couple of months back, Ubisoft serviced its fan base by delivering on a promise to bring one of the most highly requested features to its tactical shooter Ghost Recon: Wildlands by adding a PvP mode to the game. Now, though, it looks as if the publisher and developer is prepared to deliver some surprise thrills with a forthcoming crossover event on December 14 named “The Hunt” that features one of the deadliest extraterrestrial hunters from science fiction–the Predator.
As seen below in the special teaser trailer for Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ “The Hunt,” Ubisoft doesn’t explicitly reveal that the Predator is involved with the upcoming event, but it’s insinuated that the Yautja warrior is inhabiting the Bolivian jungle after several woebegone soldiers are slain and skinned by an unseen enemy. Not to mention, at the end of the footage, the digital symbols found within the Predator film series are scrawled across the screen following the iconic clicking noise of the creature.
For those Ghost Recon: Wildlands fans looking forward to “The Hunt,” it’s going to be free to play, and Ubisoft will be hosting a first look on December 13 on the company’s official Twitch channel (twitch.tv/ubisoft). The event also comes alongside the second Ghost War update for the game’s online competitive multiplayer, which is set to include the new Pathfinder class, ranked gameplay, as well as new maps for the elimination and uplink modes.
All things considered, Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ “The Hunt” event could very well become the most fitting inclusion of the Predator in contemporary video games outside of its addition to Mortal Kombat X–that is, if Ubisoft manages to create compelling gameplay that exhibits the reasons why the character is considered by many to be a sci-fi/horror icon. Should the game’s developers execute the Predator’s preternatural tracking and combat skills in the event as well as the creature did the soldiers in the trailer above, then the hunt will be on for most, if not all of Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ players.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
