Studio Elan has announced the release of their newest “girls’ love” visual novel, Please Be Happy, which will launch sometime in 2020 for PC and Nintendo Switch.

Please Be Happy follows Miho, a fox turned humanoid who roams the world in hopes of reuniting with “her person”, a human traveler who was kind to her during her years as a fox. Miho’s years-long search brings her to the floating city of Wellington, New Zealand, where she meets two women who are unlike anyone she has ever met before.

The game offers two routes. Each route has two happy endings, for a total of four earnable endings. The game’s first romantic option is Aspen, a bookish human woman who aspires to be a writer. Aspen works as a barista and draws inspiration from the people she meets every day. The second romantic option is Julia, a regal, long-lived vampire and one of Wellington’s oldest residents. Julia has turned her personal collection of books into a library open to the public.

Please Be Happy features CG and character art by Kobuta, additional art by minute and director adirosa, as well as an original soundtrack composed by Sarah “Esselfortium” Mancuso. The game also offers accessibility features for players with visual and hearing impairments.

Please Be Happy’s trailer promises a story about building relationships, self-reflection, and finding happiness. Given the hit reception of Elan’s previous lesbian centric projects, Highway Blossoms and Heart of the Woods, fans will likely be more than happy with what the studio will deliver.

Studio Elan is currently promoting the game with a personalized icon maker by lacunova on their Twitter page. Fans who can’t wait for the game’s release can use the icon maker to show their support by mixing and matching character and environment art and sharing on social media.

Please Be Happy’s Steam page is currently live and open for viewing. The development team is encouraging Studio Elan fans and interested players to wishlist the game ahead of its release.
