As many God of War fans will likely attest, Sony and Santa Monica Studio’s action-adventure epic for the PlayStation 4 contains loads of content, including fun little mysteries to solve and explore such as the secret treasure hunt riddle hidden in the map included with the Collector’s Edition. While discovering these things has surely been thrilling for many, the game’s director, Cory Barlog, recently stated that there still seems to be one secret that no one’s found yet.

This much was revealed during a recent interview between Barlog and the outlet GamingBolt, with the God of War director discussing all of the hidden materials players have managed to uncover thus far. Eventually, though, Barlog stated, “I still think there is one thing that no one has found yet that I know for certain, because I haven’t seen any stories about it.” Unfortunately, though, he didn’t offer any explicit details as to what it could be, saying, “I’m not going to tell you what that is . . . it seems like people have been able to get all the permutations. Not one person, but everyone collectively.”

Interestingly enough, while discussing the unnamed secret in God of War, Barlog mentioned the nuclear disarmament event found in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which was only discovered due to a glitch in the game. With this being the case, it’s possible that the GoW secret in question has been designed to be unearthed in a similar manner – that is, once the entire community of players have achieved a particular goal together akin to MGS5 fans having to remove every nuclear weapon in the stealth-action title’s online servers.

All things considered, it’s great to learn that there’s still more to be found within God of War, as it will give fans a brand new reason to take control of Kratos and Atreus once again for a playthrough in the PlayStation 4 exclusive. Of course, many who have completed the title are still holding out hope for a New Game Plus Mode in order to have their skills tested on a much more difficult level. Nevertheless, hunting out the hidden gem hinted at by the director will surely give them enough purpose to revisit God of War for now.

God of War is available now for PlayStation 4.
