Gearbox Publishing’s upcoming looter-slasher game Godfall has revealed a colorful, yet sleek box art image for the PlayStation 5.

The newly revealed box art is a possible glimpse at what other box art images for the PS5 will look like. The blue box and white trim of the game’s case work well with the bright hues of the Godfall artwork on the front, giving it a clean appearance. Although no back side was shown, one can probably assume it will have a short description of the game, a few in-game screenshots, and other information about its rating — a common practice with other physical games.

As far as the image itself goes, it depicts three of the game’s playable characters. The characters are wearing special suits of armor called Valorplates, which can be augmented to provide players with a unique set of skills to use during combat.

Speaking of combat, Godfall will have five weapon classes, each one with a unique playstyle. These included longswords, polearms, warhammers, greatswords, and dual blades.

Being a Gearbox Publishing game, one can expect a loot system that is similar to the Borderlands series, since Godfall will be a looter-slasher. As for how exactly the whole loot system will work, it is yet unclear if the game will incorporate a similar formula. Gearbox certainly pulls it off well with the Borderlands franchise, so we’re curious to see how it translates to a brand-new franchise.

Godfall is set to release for PlayStation 5 and PC later this year. Since the game will be one of the first to launch on the PS5, expectations are high for some people because they are interested to see how the game is going to look like and perform on the next-generation console, and what the console itself will be capable of. There’s still no price for Godfall, but we’re hoping that it doesn’t follow the NBA 2K21 trend of costing $70. At any rate, we’ll find out by the end of the year.
