Godfall is not a “game as a service” and will not have any microtransactions, according to the game’s producer.

We’ve come to expect microtransactions in games these days, but there is the occasional exception of a game that doesn’t try to nickel and dime its players. Godfall is aiming to be one of those exceptions.

“We don’t consider the game a service,” Godfall Technical Producer Richard Heyne

told Arekkz in a brand new interview. “There are no microtransactions in Godfall, but we are planning that there is plenty of content for the player to dig into once [main villain] Macros is defeated. Once you’ve completed the campaign, you will have the ability to go back to these realms and explore them in new ways, to experience new encounters, new challenges.”

Based on Heyne’s words, it sounds like Godfall is shaping up to be a more typical single-player experience. The main campaign will take the player through a story filled with action and combat, and once that’s done, there will be even more action in the form of harder boss fights–perhaps even previously defeated bosses that are back for a second round.

Heyne promises that although there’s an end to Godfall’s story, there will be “end game content” for players to “explore and revisit once they have completed their ascent of the Skybreaker Monolith.”

Last week, we found out that Godfall will make full use of the PlayStation 5’s new DualSense controller to simulate the feeling of blades grinding in a sudden-death clash, or armor sliding across a rough surface.

The haptic feedback feature of the DualSense may even go further and allow players to “sense” when enemies are nearby without even being able to see them.

Godfall will arrive on PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store later this Holiday season.
