Final Fantasy 7’s new trailer and release date may have dropped before the Square Enix show even kicked off, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t still steal the spotlight during the main event. During an extensive gameplay footage demo, Square Enix explained exactly how combat works in the Remake. It was hinted that there would be multiple options for combat speed before, but now we see exactly how that works. Players can use regular attacks in either combat mode, but have the option to decide between entering Tactical Mode to slow down time or mapping special attacks and abilities to regular buttons....

Square Enix just announced that it plans to release two different Final Fantasy 7 Remake PlayStation bundles: One for the 500GB PS4 Slim (CUH-2200 series), and one for the 1TB PS4 Pro (CUH-72000). The bad news is that both bundles will be exclusive to Japan. Each bundle will cost the price of whichever console the player chooses, and both will release on Friday, April 10, 2020. Neither PlayStation will have a unique Final Fantasy 7 design adorning the skin, however....

Nintendo surprised fans around the world this morning with the announcement that Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon And The Blade Of Light would finally be getting an English release after 30 years. Coming to the Nintendo Switch as a digital download on December 4, 2020, this will be the first time that the original title will see a release overseas. Sadly, Nintendo is following a similar strategy to that of Super Mario 3D All Stars, meaning this is a limited time release....

Sonic the Hedgehog fans have been nervously awaiting the full reveal of Sonic’s full appearance since Paramount Studios began teasing him several months ago. Remade in computer graphics, Sonic’s new look has left fans divided, but it appears that the wait is now over, as images featuring what’s rumored to be Sonic the Hedgehog’s full movie look have leaked. Multiple images of Sonic have leaked from what’s likely to be internal branding material for the film, spoiling the reveal but letting Sonic the Hedgehog fans start coping with the changes....

Last month, Middle-earth: Shadow of War was officially unveiled, serving as a squel to 2014’s Shadow of Mordor. Now, sixteen minutes of gameplay from the upcoming title has been posted by its developer, Monolith Productions — and it seems that fans of the original have plenty to look forward to. The gameplay footage on show is apparently from several hours into the game. A narrator states that it typifies the “epic, personal stories” that are made possible thanks to the next generation of the Nemesis system that was utilized to great effect in its predecessor....

The Atlanta Reign suffered a few roster casualties in the past week or so after flex-support player Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger retired to continue with Atlanta in a coaching position while hitscan specialist Andrej “babybay” Francisty retired from professional Overwatch entirely. To fill in some of the gaps, the Reign announced they have added former ATL Academy player Garrett “Saucy” Roland to the roster. Saucy previously played for ATL Academy, the Reign’s old academy team, but found himself out of Contenders earlier this year when ATL Academy opted out of the remainder of Overwatch Contenders 2020....

Joanie Laurer, the actress and athlete better known to pro wrestling fans around the world as Chyna, has been found dead in her California home at the age of 46. The world of wrestling is once again in mourning today, as reports are circulating that former WWF wrestler Chyna has been found dead at her home in Redondo Beach, CA. The two-time WWF Intercontinental champion and one-time WWF Women’s champion was just 46....

Fortnite’s new shark enemies can be a massive pain, but one Redditor has found a way to get around their frequent attacks. The method isn’t easy by any means, but it does provide players with a reliable defense against them. Shark attacks can even happen while on land, so simply avoiding the water doesn’t work. Fortnite first added sharks in chapter 2, and they have since been a thorn in players sides....

Fortnite Battle Royale has now reached Season 8 Week 3, and players can attempt to take on a fresh list of different Battle Pass challenges in the free-to-play multiplayer sandbox shooter in order to unlock the game’s Battle Stars, which will help one level up to get new skins and rewards. When it comes to this week’s given tasks, lot of them are relatively straightforward, with one pretty direct staged challenge asking players to start out by destroying 30 cacti in the desert....

Fortnite’s Marvel-themed Chapter 2, Season 4 is well underway. There are Marvel skins to grab, Marvel supervillains to defeat on the Fortnite map, Marvel emotes, and even Marvel-themed challenges to complete. As Fortnite Season 8 moves forward, new weekly challenges continue to give fans a reason to keep playing the battle royale game. On that note, the Week 5 challenges are now live, and they will have players engaged in a range of activities, including looking for the Fortnite bouncy ball and using a race track in Happy Hamlet. One of the week’s more straightforward challenges asks fans to eliminate opponents at pirate camps....

Xbox Game Studios shared some statistics on its recent titles yesterday, and it seems that Microsoft’s gaming division has had a pretty solid year. The company says that its games have racked up 1.66 billion hours of playtime in 2020, and the development studios within the Xbox family have launched 15 titles since the division rebranded from the Microsoft Studios name in 2019. Microsoft didn’t waste the opportunity to tout some of its recent successes, pointing to Microsoft Flight Simulator as its highest-rated title of the year on Metacritic with a score of 92....

One of the bigger surprises from Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference was the reveal of Gears Tactics, a new turn-based strategy game based on the Gears of War franchise that looked to be borrowing heavily from XCOM. While some hardcore Gears of War fans may not have been sold on the concept initially, anyone that gives it a chance will quickly discover that the Gears of War franchise lends itself quite well to a turn-based tactics game....

First announced in June of 2020, Genshin Impact immediately caught a considerable amount of attention for it’s cel-shaded, open-world environment and colorful cast of characters. Unfortunately, that popularity turned to notoriety due to an incident involving a PS4 fan at ChinaJoy after the game’s initial response, but the game has shown itself to be a unique title that can stand out against the controversy. Game Rant has been fortunate enough to have an opportunity to talk to Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo about the development of the title and looking at what players can expect and be excited about ahead of the release on September 28th....

As many will no doubt know due to the heated debates surrounding the game on Twitter, The Last of Us 2, while heralded by many, hasn’t gone down all that smoothly with a significant portion of the series’ fanbase. As was reported when the sequel released back in June, the game’s controversial nature has led to severe review bombing, with players angry at the game’s polarizing narrative setting up numerous accounts on Metacritic to lower its aggregate user score....

Early on in the prologue of Ghost of Tsushima, players are put in a one-on-one duel with the big bad Khotun Khan himself in what is ultimately a hopeless endeavor. It is impossible to beat Khotun Khan at the beginning of the game, no matter how skilled the player is, as even if they run out of hit points, the fight will go on until the player drops. Throughout the rest of the story, Jin grows substantially more powerful as he learns new techniques, gets new equipment, and finds charms throughout the island of Tsushima, making his eventual rematch with the Khan much more of a fair fight, but what happens if all of that growth is stripped away?...
