About a couple of months ago, the video game publisher and developer Square Enix officially announced that its MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 would be receiving a crossover experience with Final Fantasy 15 which includes the hero Noctis Lucis Caelum. Now, the company has officially made it so that the event in question is live, with the FF14 crossover event, “A Nocturne for Heroes”, running through May 27, 2019. The first DayZ update of 2021 went live today, bringing a new rifle, stabilization fixes, and a complete wipe of all official servers. Bohemia Interactive hopes this will give players a fresh slate for the year ahead and allow the team to easily monitor changes made to the in-game economy in previous updates. DayZ rolled into the new year by setting a new record for the average Steam player count. The community is clearly alive and well, but Bohemia wants to make sure it stays that way in the coming months....

Fortnite appears to have teased the flood that might kick off Chapter 2: Season 3 more than a year ago. In late 2019, Fortnite’s first island disappeared into a black hole. In Fortnite, it is not uncommon for weapons and items to be removed from battle royale for a number of reasons, including when one is perceived as simply too powerful amidst the game’s other offerings. A new vault hunter is coming. Developer Gearbox Software teased a new playable character is forthcoming for Borderlands 2 during a panel at South by Southwest (SXSW). Although details were scarce regarding the new character class, Gearbox Franchise Director Matt Armstrong explained that it shouldn’t be long before players see him or her. Unfortunately, the character will not be included with the Borderlands 2 Season Pass, but will instead be a separate purchase....

Microsoft reveals the first trailer for the revamped Horde 3.0 mode in Gears of War 4 which shows off classic wave based combat with new twists like character classes. Microsoft is betting big on Gears of War 4, positioning it as one of its frontline, must have titles for the 2016 holiday season. As the game gets closer to its October release date, fans have gotten great looks at the single player and multiplayer content coming in the title, but Horde mode has remained tightly under wraps....
