Fortnite has seen plenty of cool music-centric events take place in-game this year, most notably with Travis Scott’s record-breaking Astronomical concert, and that trend looks set to continue with this weekend’s Diplo concert, titled Diplo Presents: Higher Ground. The popular producer Diplo has served as Fortnite’s resident DJ for the past few months, having headlined multiple live performances in the game’s Party Royale mode throughout the summer. Higher Ground will mark the end of his residency with what Epic Games calls “a deep house musical show featuring trance-inducing, sophisticated beats....

Here we are in week 10 of Fortnite, which means this is the last week before Season 9 ends. There have been Fortbytes and Battle Stars aplenty, and many challenges now behind us. But the fun isn’t quite over yet. If you missed the Battle Star for week 9, don’t fret. It is still available for the taking. As usual, the location of the week 9 Battle Star is hidden in the Fortnite loading screen that players unlock after completing the week’s challenges....

Deadpool is reminding Fortnite players that he’s still around with a new weekly challenge to help fill out the season 3 battle pass, this time requiring them to search for Deadpool themed floaties. This challenge is pretty easy so long as player know where to looks, and most should be able to complete it on the first try. Currently Aquaman is heading Season 3, but Deadpool is still hanging around on Fortnite’s yacht causing mischief....

Fortnite Season 4 is coming on August 27 and players have been speculating about what the latest theme is likely to be. The most reliable information we saw was from a Twitter account that suggested it would be Marvel-themed. Now, this has been confirmed by a short teaser posted on the official Fortnite Twitter account confirming that Fortnite appears to be turning into Thor-tnite. This is far from the first time Marvel and Fortnite have collaborated....

Fortnite has had a turbulent time since Epic Games and Apple had a very public disagreement. The battle royale title began undercutting the policies of the Apple Store and Google Play Store by offering direct app purchases that led to a breakdown in the business relationship between the parties. As a result, Fortnite has been pulled from the Apple and Play Store. Fortunately, fans who use a Samsung can still download the game through the Samsung Galaxy Store, despite the ongoing legal party between Epic Games and app stores....

In just under two months (less for Japanese gamers), From Software will conclude its epic and brutally difficult trilogy with Dark Souls 3. Although many fans will be sad to see it go, From and series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki have also made sure that those players have enough time to soak Dark Souls 3 in by releasing, like they have today, new pieces of gameplay footage and awesome trailers. The latest footage for Dark Souls 3 comes by way of a recent livestream, in which the Japanese developers at From Software walked players through some of the game’s essential pieces....

As the next generation of game consoles arrives, so too does a new generation of video game engines to make the most of them. Amongst these is the new Frostbite 3 engine from DICE, upon which Battlefield 4 and other EA titles will be built, and which will span many gaming platforms including iPad and iPhone. To showcase the capabilities of Frostbite 3, EA has released a new tech demo featuring footage from Battlefield 4 and interviews with the developers of the engine, who detail the ways in which it “enables game designers to do way more than they’ve ever been able to do before....

One of the biggest announcements from the EA E3 2018 press conference was the confirmation that Battlefield V will have a battle royale game mode. The reveal was a huge talking point on social media, as many gamers joked that it took less than 10 minutes for the first battle royale announcement to be made at E3. Many also began to question what other games could add battle royale modes and that included one poorly thought out joke from a well-known game retailer....

The latest impromptu suspension has shaken the gaming community, as a treasured retro gamer and advocate for community building has had his account revoked - and it seems to be permanent. Retro game superfan and former Sega counselor “segamastertim” has been left rather baffled over Twitter’s sporadic decision to suspend his account....

The 2018 Game Developers Conference is set to take place next month from March 19 to March 23. While the show is able to avoid controversy most years, one roundtable scheduled for next month’s event is already raising eyebrows. Presented by the International Game Developers Association, the roundtable is called “Censorship Strikes Back,” and it describes loot box regulation as a form of censorship. The roundtable will give updates to game developers “and allies” about the “latest assaults on their self-expression and business rights....

Genshin Impact lets players enhance their characters in several different ways, one of which is by simply equipping weapons. Weapons are available via the “Wish” mechanic, just like playable characters, but the game also allows players to forge powerful weapons by gathering in-game resources. Powerful five-star weapons in Genshin Impact are currently only available from Wishes, which require the game’s premium currency. That being said, several incredible forgeable four-star weapons exist, and can be crafted by any Traveler with a blueprint and the required materials....

If gamers were lucky, Batman: Arkham Knight would be out already. Originally scheduled for October 14, 2014, Rocksteady Studio’s latest - and supposedly last - entry in the Arkham franchise was delayed shortly before release, with Rocksteady citing a number of performance issues. Sure, that’s probably for the best. After buggy launches for big games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin’s Creed Unity it’s hard to complain about a publisher taking extra time to make sure their title works right....

The digital-only video game events that have replaced live venues such as E3 have offered games like Cold Symmetry’s Mortal Shell time in the spotlight, having shown new trailers at the PC Gaming Show and IGN’s Summer of Gaming. Another big showcase for the combination first-person parkour and shooter game Ghostrunner was also put out as part of the Summer of Gaming yesterday. This 16-minute video begins with the introduction, where the main character, a Ghostrunner, is awoken by an entity called Architect Cybervoid and sent off to kill a woman named Mara, “The Keymaster,” who has taken over the world....

Not everybody’s forte in life is showing up on time for planned events. But sometimes people with a noticeable habit of showing up late receive a pass for their behavior, particularly if they’re a world champion chess grandmaster. During the recent Twitch livestream of the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz online chess tournament, the chair of Norwegian chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen was conspicuously empty. For the first several seconds of the stream, the commentators of the event had no explanation for the occurrence and could only speculate that perhaps Carlsen had gotten confused because the starting time differed from that of a previous event....

Since its release in 2018, fans have been raving over the latest installment to the God of War series.
