Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3 started off with an interesting new theme: part of the battle royale map was flooded and many of the locations underwent significant changes. Previously, the drive-in-cinema-themed Point of Interest “Risky Reels” was underwater. With the July 11 update, the water has dropped and Risky Reels is accessible again. Now that the water is gone, players can access Risky Reels like normal. Other Fortnite locations aren’t so lucky, like Pleasant Park, which is still an available location but now has propped-up floating houses and is missing several roads and sidewalks....

Gamers are angry at Activision Blizzard after the company laid off almost 200 employees as its CEO is set to receive a massive cash reward of $200 million. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported earlier today that Activision Blizzard laid off 190 employees across multiple departments, including 50 employees who worked on esports programming. A spokesperson for Activison said the cuts were made because of losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which cancelled last year’s major esports events....
Over 40 companies have signed an open letter opposing Texas Senate Bill 29, also known as the “Fair Sports for Women and Girls Act.” The bill would force trans girls to play on public school sports teams that match the biological sex on their birth certificate rather than the one they identify as. “We are concerned to see a resurgence of efforts to exclude transgender youth from full participation in their communities, to criminalize or ban best practice medical care that is proven to save lives, or to exclude LGBTQ people in a variety of other settings, including accessing healthcare, filling a prescription, or seeking legal representation,” reads the letter in part....

As the film celebrates its five year anniversary, the director confirmed that there will be a cast change in his next project.
