A few days ago, Gun Media finally announced that the long-awaited Xbox One patch for Friday The 13th was finally available to download. When gamers logged in to nab the update, many Xbox One gamers noticed something else was made available as well: the Tom Savini-designed flaming Jason skin, a downloadable item which was promised to be exclusive to those who had backed Friday The 13th on Kickstarter. Those who had actually backed the project on Kickstarter were frustrated to see the product become freely available to the public, as they’d paid extra for the exclusive use of the designer skin....

Gamescom is the next major gaming event of 2020 and the digital convention kicks off on August 27 with the 2-hour Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation. This past week Gamescom ONL host Geoff Keighley ignited fans’ excitement for the event by promising over 20+ games being featured in the event. But apparently that was a vast underestimation, as Keighley has now updated that total to 38 total games. Voting is now live for the 2020 Golden Joystick Awards. This will be the 38th awards, as it began back in 1983. It is also known as The People’s Gaming Awards, and fans can start participating now in the voting process. There are 18 different categories that can currently be voted on, including Best Multiplayer Game, Best Storytelling, and Best Visual Design. There are also a few categories that are a bit less traditional or even new, such as Best Family Game, Best Community Game, and Still Playing (a best multiplayer with games-as-a-service heavy category)....

Google will reduce the cut it takes from revenue made on its Play Store later this year, halving its share on the first $1 million made by developers. Google will follow Apple’s lead later this year by reducing the cut it takes from app developers using its Play Store. Google currently takes 30% of all digital sales made through apps bought via its Play Store on Android. However, starting from July 1, 2021, that rate will be reduced to 15% on the first $1 million made by a developer....

The recent trailer for WB Montreal’s entry into the Batman series, Gotham Knights, showcased a Batman game with very little Batman. Instead, the focus is on some of Gotham’s less prolific vigilantes.
