Everyone and their mom has been thoroughly impressed by Final Fantasy VII Remake’s graphics and gameplay, but no one was prepared for the incredible cinematography. Whatever fans currently think of the retake on the storyline, there’s no denying the cinematics are epic and then some. What makes the cinematography so great is that it’s not limited to dialogue and exposition. A lot of the cutscenes include battle scenes that get the player excited for the fight that is sure to come....

Intelligent Systems director Toshiyuki Kusakihara estimates that it may take over 200 hours to complete all three paths available in the upcoming game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. As indicated by its title, the newest installment in the Fire Emblem franchise has three noble houses that engage in a war — it’s up to the player to choose a house to play with and determine the outcome of said war. In an interview with Jeuxvideo, Kusakihara stated that he took 80 hours to finish the game with only one of the three houses while not skipping any dialogue or cutscenes....

On February 14, a mass shooting occurred at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL., leaving 17 people dead and 14 people injured. The tragedy at the southern Florida high school has been felt around the state and one sports team in the area has chosen to honor the victims. Yesterday, Xbox announced that there were going to be changes to the way that Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are handled. However, the surprise price increase led to such fervent backlash that Xbox has since rescinded their decision to change Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. A former Xbox VP doesn’t think that Xbox Live Gold should exist at all, though. Back in July, it was reported that the yearly subscription option for Xbox Live Gold had been removed from the Microsoft store....

Fortnite has today added a limited-time mode called The Spy Within, which sees two spies trying to eliminate all other players before they finish their assigned tasks. If that sounds familiar to you, well, that’s because it’s basically Among Us with a Fortnite coat of paint. Epic Games provided an elaborate rundown of the mode on its blog, but it essentially boils down to two players – called Spies – hunting down eight players – the Agents – before they can complete their objectives....

When Fortnite added its first vehicle, the shopping cart, it was a well-received addition to the game, as it led to some interesting collaboration and kills. Epic Games has released update 6.10 for Fortnite, and it includes tons of new features that include a new type of vehicle. The Quadcrasher was previously revealed a couple of days ago, and it will seat two players, and give them the ability to destroy everything in the cart’s path. The new addition to Fortnite’s fleet is designed to cause mayhem and destruction, as it sports a snowplow-like front. Moreover, Epic has infused this vehicle with a unique boost ability that will “crash through structures or get some air....

Some of Deadpool’s buddies from his X-Force team-ups may be coming to Fortnite pretty soon, as a trio of X-Men skins appears to have been leaked. Epic will be releasing a special bundle featuring Fortnite skins for X-Men Cable, Domino, and Psylocke, each with their own pickaxes and back bling soon. No release date or price has been officially confirmed. According to the datamine, Cable will come with a Cable Cloak back bling and an Unstoppable Force pickaxe, Domino gets a Domino Pack back bling and Probability Dagger pickaxe, and Psylocke has a Shurayuki katana back bling and her Psi-Blade pickaxe....

In Bayonetta, if you decide to sit and shoot at a wall for a few seconds, the titular character will start drawing things with bullets. There are a lot of little touches that make Bayonetta the classic that it is. The use of butterflies instead of blood to ensure that even when Bayonetta is damaged she never sullies herself with her own fluids, for example. Or how her hair doubles as both her clothing and method of summoning terrifying demons to defeat her enemies, revealing much of Bayonetta’s body in the process....

A new study shows that gaming can improve literacy and overall wellbeing in children. The survey of 4,626 young people ages 11 to 16 in the UK revealed that games encourage reading and writing, according to the National Literacy Trust. Children reported that playing video games helped them deal with anxiety and stress with 73% saying that gaming helped them feel part of a story and 65% saying that games helped them relate to others....

The yearly Game Developers’ Conference, or GDC, is already in the process of being rescheduled and replanned, but that doesn’t do much to mitigate the damage already done to smaller indie developers that originally planned to attend GDC in March. Thankfully, Gamedev.world and other sponsors have been organizing a relief effort complete with multiple fundraisers to support the impacted developers. The most recent fundraiser includes three days’ worth of Twitch live streams featuring fan-favorite developers and voice actors, plus a gigantic bundle of games available for purchase at whatever price the buyer deems appropriate....

In the midst of a lull in plot-expanding patches, many Genshin Impact players find themselves starving for main story quests, or “Archon Quests” as they’re officially named. Developer miHoYo has recently prioritized cooperative events that shed light on adjacent plot lines while focusing more on diversifying the combat experience rather than strictly advancing the main story. Fortunately for Genshin’s lore hounds, the game does an excellent job at hiding hints in plain sight — hints that contextualize the events of the plot so far within Teyvat’s history....

Ascending weapons in Genshin Impact is vital to keeping characters strong and competitive against the ever increasing power of enemies in the game, but players will need to get certain ascension material first. Many weapons require Agent’s Sacrificial Knife, and the game only tells players that the source for these is from Agents. Every item in Genshin Impact displays where players can get it from. This feature is super helpful so that players aren’t constantly needing to look up the location of items, but sometimes the sources leave a little to be desired....

Zhongli, also known as the Rex Lapis reincarnate, and Geo Archon, was one of the more highly anticipated Genshin Impact characters. Following in the footsteps of the Hydro hotshot Tartaglia, he recently joined the game’s roster of playable characters with his own Special Character Banner. Travelers were excited to meet the new Geo Vision wielder, as Genshin Impact currently lacks a variety of Geo options for players to choose from. With few Geo characters available altogether, a new polearm user who could wield the element was welcomed by most — until players started noticing Zhongli’s Constellation, that is....

Fans of Ghost of Tsushima have wasted no time telling the world how much they love the game, and a recent statistic showing that players have pet over 8 million foxes supports this. Despite its positive reception, there are still a host of suggestions fans have that could make the game that much better.
