Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy XVI, the long-rumored new installment in the beloved fantasy RPG series. Covenant, a new development studio founded by former producer of The Witcher 3, has officially announced its first project – Gord. The single-player, dark fantasy game is said to combine tropes from city builder, strategy, survival, and adventure games into one cohesive whole, all under the backdrop of a grim Slavic folklore-inspired world. One of the main attractions of Gord is its procedurally generated worlds. Before jumping into a game, you’ll get to select various primary objectives, level size, raid intensity, and even the environment and enemies you want to go up against....

The reign of Midas may have come to an end in Fortnite, but three new bosses have arrived with the wall of water that has washed out the island. Fortnite Season 3 is now a week old and players will have discovered most of the new features that have been ushered in. Fortnite’s in the business of cosmetics. Epic Games is constantly introducing new skins, emotes, and other microtransactions to the game, as well as cycling through old cosmetics to give Fortnite players a second chance to make a purchase. Things are beginning to shift back to normal in the world of Fortnite. Frogwares is a developer that’s had the Sherlock Holmes market cornered for quite a while now. Over the years it’s released multiple Sherlock Holmes games which were enjoyable albeit very flawed. Now the developer is back at it again with its first next-gen game starring everyone’s favorite fictional detective with Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One that was announced back in May last year. With the game expected to release sometime this year, Frogwares is releasing a number of videos on YouTube detailing the development process and answering people’s questions about the game....

That’s because it was a home console and arcade board designed in the late ’90s but never left the prototype stage. There are no pictures of this rumored console and no hardware to prove it ever existed. Now, however, there is one piece of hardware that might very well have been part of the SNK Millennium’s development....

The best details in gaming are often the mundane moments. Unique walk cycles just hit different, as do those instances when the developers made the time to show characters reacting believably to their surroundings. I always found it amusing when Link lightly hums while cooking in Breath of the Wild. Or the crushing scene when V leaves a desperate voice mail for a certain friend in Cyberpunk 2077. Less endearing, but still an example of great design, are the grunts in Titanfall 2....

The co-founder of Gearbox Software, Landon Montgomery, has passed away. Montgomery had worked on beloved games such as Halo: Combat Evolved, Borderlands, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 amongst many other titles, and fans of his work are taking time to commemorate the producer and director. The legacy of Montgomery is not only survived by Gearbox Software but by the huge impact so many of his games have had on gaming culture....
