As Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief created by Maurice Leblanc in 1905, is a renowned master of disguise, it is fitting that he has inspired a number of literary characters to take up his mantle. Arguably the most recognizable riff is Lupin III, a copyright-infringing, quasi-canonical descendant by way of Japanese manga and anime. Yet it wasn’t until Netflix’s new French mystery comedy-drama series Lupin—which reinvented the source material through Omar Sy’s Lupin and the lenses of immigration, racism, and fandom—that readers and viewers have truly been challenged to consider what it means to inherit, whether through blood or through books, an iconic character’s legacy....

Dame Diana Rigg, who played Olenna Tyrell in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, has died of cancer aged 82. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time." Born in Doncaster, England in 1938, Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg moved to Bikaner, India at an early age with her parents until she was 8....

A brand new WWE game named WWE 2K Battlegrounds was just announced, and fans don’t seem too pleased with the announcement. WWE Battleground is set to release later this fall, with over-the-top arcade wrestling action. 2K seems to be looking to shake up the WWE games, but it may not be happy with the results thus far if it pays attention to fans online. After a poorly received WWE 2K20, 2K announced that it would not be releasing an official WWE2K21....

As this is being typed out, it’s been about two and a half months since isolation, shelter and stay in place orders, and social distancing have all become parts of the new normal. And the mnemonic device I use to keep track of that is how long ago Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out, because the timelines are basically the same. In Genshin Impact’s early game, many players tend to prioritize Attack percentage, while in the late game, one of the most important stats is Crit Rate. This month’s Starglitter Exchange features a variety of weapons that focus on this stat, including the Royal Greatsword. The special effect of the Royal Greatsword is that each time the player damages an opponent, their Crit Rate increases by 8%, for a maximum of 5 stacks....

The Grain of Aerosiderite is one of the more important materials for ascending certain weapons, but there aren’t many ways to get your hands on one....

Genshin Impact has increased prices for gems in various countries around the globe, including Brazil, Russia, India, and Indonesia. We’re yet to get an official response about the price hike, but it seems that a recent App Store update might be to blame. Players in these countries have reported price hikes of 70-80% on the in-game store, with no prior warning from Mihoyo. However, it seems that Mihoyo may have been blindsided by the changes, too....

A recent promotional email from GameStop about The Last Of Us 2 has come under fire after it highlighted areas of the game’s narrative which it alleges force players to shoot dogs. The marketing text then claims that the game goes on to make players feel guilty and horrified by their actions by naming the dogs loving owners and showing their grief on-screen. The tone of the passage is particularly worrying as, using playful puns, it seems to take joy in the fact that players are apparently forced to experience this nightmare....

EA has announced that it will not be releasing a demo for FIFA 21 ahead of its October 9 release date. While the latest entry in the long-running soccer simulation series will still be released early to EA PLAY members in the form of a 10-hour trial, there has been no news on the next-gen versions of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S beyond the option to freely upgrade if a current-gen version is purchased....

Yesterday’s FIFA 22 reveal trailer confirmed that EA’s latest sports game will be releasing on last-gen consoles as well as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, while you will be able to play on the older hardware, it won’t support the new HyperMotion technology shown off in that aforementioned trailer. Final Fantasy 10 offers a rather awesome minigame for players to enjoy called Blitzball. The concept of Blitzball is introduced to players right away as the opening sequence shows Tidus playing a match of this underwater sport. However, Blitzball as an actual minigame becomes accessible after the events in Luca, with players gaining control of the Besaid Aurochs as their default team.
