As Google Play’s collection of simulation games continues to grow, it can be overwhelming trying to find a new title to download and play. With so many great titles, how do you know which ones are worthy of your time? We reached out to Greg Hartrell, Head of Product Management for Google Play, to figure out which games he would recommend – and get a bit of insight into why simulation games are so popular today, along with where he thinks they’re headed....

The crackdown on in-game currencies being used on gambling websites has begun in earnest, and a FIFA YouTuber has pleaded guilty to advertising illegal gambling. The world of FIFA video games is often as lucrative as the real-world, with die-hard fans of big soccer clubs equally as likely to spend their money on virtual representations of their favorite players as they are to buy a jersey. FIFA 17 was the UK’s top selling game in 2016, continuing a long tradition of the title dominating European sales charts, and the positive response to the newly introduced storymode has seen EA already promise that FIFA 18 will feature a Journey campaign as well....

For a series that seems as light-hearted and accessible as Final Fantasy, the game touches on some truly dark stuff at times. Death, despair, trauma, mental health, and loneliness are just a few of the many serious avenues the franchise has delved into, and — for the most part — the games have handled these mature themes excellently. One need only look at the story arcs of Cloud and Celes to understand just how amazing Squaresoft was when it came to crafting serious and tragic tales....

Final Fantasy 15’s Episode Gladiolus, the game’s first major story DLC, has finally been released after months of buildup. Fans had wondered whether or not the DLC would follow the same formula that was so successful in Final Fantasy 15, something that, while obviously appealing, would be difficult given the differences between the agile Noctis and big, burly Gladiolus. As it turns out, Square Enix decided to once again favor a more innovative approach to its iconic series, and Episode Gladiolus plays much more like an action game than Final Fantasy 15 ever did....

Just a day before its release, the entire list of Final Fantasy 15 trophies and achievements has been revealed. Be warned, though - there are a lot of spoilers ahead. The decade-long wait for Final Fantasy 15 is now just a tantalizing day away from ending, and that proximity to the finish line means that fans will have to remain vigilant if they plan to avoid any spoilers. Final Fantasy 15 is supposed to be way different from its predecessors, and that includes the game’s narrative, which means many of the series’ most dedicated players will be ushering in their own social media blackouts until they can complete the game themselves to see how it holds up when compared to Final Fantasy’s very best....

In order to cast spells in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered, players will need to find magicite first, but eventually there is a way to bypass this requirement. With great care and a lot of grinding, players will be able to obtain magical rings as artifacts that allow them to start a dungeon with a spell equipped, including the ever useful Cure spell. This makes Crystal Chronicles’ spell fusion much easier to pull off as well....

There are a ton of little side activities in Final Fantasy VII: Remake, and many of them lead to trophies for accomplishing them. There is one trophy, though, that has gotten the ire of basically the whole FFVII: Remake community: the pro difficulty pull up contest with Jules. The pull up contest is already a tedious little mini-game, but facing off against Jules is an exercise in frustration. For one, he recovers way faster than Tifa from mistakes, and he does reps at an insane rate, especially in the second round....

Since the announcement of the forthcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, there has been frequent indication that the game is interested in offering a hyperrealistic portrayal of the atrocities surrounding violent conflicts. Indeed, players that have gotten a closer look at the title have detailed some grisly moments, including Modern Warfare’s child solider mission. These depictions of extreme violence have already begun to spawn some controversy, and a former Call of Duty dev has given his thoughts on the matter....

The final set of weekly challenges for Fortnite Season 5 have gone live, meaning those still working on that coveted Tier 100 Ragnarok skin have limited time to get it. While these challenges are a great source for experience and to rank up the Battle Pass, some are often trickier than others. This week, players are asked to search between a covered bridge, a waterfall, and the ninth green. For those seasoned players, the inclusion of the ninth green obviously suggests Lazy Links....

It seems that the arrival of Fortnite Season 6 has made players more competitive than ever. Over the past couple of weeks, many of the game’s kill records have been smashed as players work hard to 1-up each other and be crowned as one of the best Fortnite players (even if it is only for a few days). The latest Fortnite record to be broken is a PC duos kill record....

Although Fortnite originally launched with the Save The World mode, it seems clear that the Battle Royale mode has taken the spotlight. Fans still upset about the jetpack delay may rejoice in the fact that an optional 60 frames-per-second (fps) mode is now available in the game (but only for the Battle Royale mode). While a 60fps option is available in some games, they generally fail to deliver, but not Fortnite....

The Flash debuted in Fortnite this week via The Flash Cup. The skin and the rest of the DC character’s cosmetics will be available to everyone later this week. The Flash became the latest hero from the DC Universe to debut in Fortnite this week. Barry Allen became the first character from the DC side of things to get his own cup, something previously reserved for Marvel heroes during season four....

The heavily hinted-at winter update has finally arrived in Fortnite as part of the just-released seventh season of Battle Royale. Like all of the previous seasons before it, players have a brand new battle pass to unlock and new items to use, as well as plenty of new map changes to check out. Epic Games has always given players plenty of different options to customize their experience and the same thing is true for season 7 as a new item called Wraps....

With Fortnite Battle Royale now being one of the most popular games around, the development team at Epic Games is continually making fresh items, events, and modes available in the title so as to keep longtime fans engaged and newcomers joining the fold, with the company having recently added a heavy shotgun for players to use. While these near-constant updates are definitely appreciated by many, there are always some who are looking to the future, with a leak now pointing toward the studio possibly adding a legendary tactical assault rifle soon....

Most fans have been anything but excited since the new Xbox Live “Games with Gold” titles were announced 5 days ago. Now the first two March titles have landed and are available for play right now. Xbox started Games with Gold back in 2013 with an E3 announcement following the success of Sony’s PS Plus, which began in 2010. Since Games with Gold’s inception, Xbox has given away over 300 free games as part of the program....

There’s good news for Planet Zoo fans this week as Frontier has revealed more about their plans for the game. After teasing us last week with the news that animal talks are coming soon, we now have a new DLC pack to get excited about as well. The Aquatic Pack is set to be released on December 8 and will include five new animals as well as jungle-inspired scenery and a brand new challenge zoo....

The filmmakers are not coy about this fact, as Kristen Bell recently told Jimmy Kimmel that Frozen “has matured with its audience.” And nowhere is that more apparent than the lessons of family imparted in the sequel. According to the popular purveyor of new and used games, Sony’s hot new console has strong purchase intent. Purchase intent, however, is only a measure of interest in a new product (a game like Grand Theft Auto 5 has high purchase intent for example), and is not a true indicator of pre-order potential....
