It took quite a while, but winter eventually made its way to the world of Game of Thrones, at least much sooner than it’s taken George R.R. Martin to finish The Winds of Winter. No matter how long winter may be in that world, HBO is making strides to put an end to the franchise’s hiatus from TV as House of the Dragon gets ready to begin filming. Over the last couple of days, HBO’s only confirmed Game of Thrones spin-off, for now, was wrapping up final details so House of the Dragon can start shooting its first 10 episodes next April, after showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan S....

Recent reports of GameStop’s handling of the spreading coronavirus pandemic have not been the best for the company. Not only has the brick and mortar retail chain failed to provide employee’s with proper cleaning supplies, but it recently issued an order to all employees not to close stores during city lockdown orders. GameStop’s claim is that it is essential based on the experience it provides for consumers. Now, it turns out that GameStop is closing its doors in California, as first reported by Kotaku, but not willingly....

Most of the world’s top selling video games have notably high critical reception and are widely accepted as being some of the best video games of all time. While games like Wii Sports and Grand Theft Auto V remain on the top of the list for best selling video games ever, and rightfully so, they are highly regarded as some of the video game industry’s best. Chinese video game developer miHoYo has finally issued a statement in regards to the Genshin Impact version 1.2 leak that occurred in the closed beta test a while back. While it is not the first Genshin Impact leak that has happened since the game’s launch back in September, it may certainly be the last, considering how miHoyo is all set to take legal action against the leakers this time around....

Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City Wire event may have been postponed until June 25, but that did not stop CD Projekt Red (CDPR) from sharing a small bit of information about the game on a German podcast part of video game magazine called GameStar. Despite the podcast being locked behind a paywall for premium subscribers, Reddit user Moraez managed to obtain some of the information that was discussed on the podcast and share it on the platform....

Park-goers at Universal Studios Hollywood have a new land to look forward to next month - and here’s a first look at the new Super Nintendo World. In what will be the first new land to be added to the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park since the arrival of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2016, Super Nintendo World already has a lot to live up to. It’s based on the same land that’s already available at Universal Studios Japan, and Attractions Magazine was invited to take a look around....

Way back in 1992, a mere four developers would create one of the most famous fighting game franchises of all time. What was initially conceived as a game starring actor Jean-Claude Van Damme turned into a horror-fantasy fighting game known as Mortal Kombat. One thing that would set Mortal Kombat apart from other fighting games of the time is they would use live-action characters instead of hand-drawn characters - a carry over from the games initial concept of featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme....

Shortly after the update of Operation 3: Gridiron to Gears 5, the game will now be available for a free trial. The option will be available on both Xbox One and PC. With an active Xbox Live Gold membership or Game Pass Ultimate subscription, Xbox One and PC players both can download a free trial of Gears 5 from April 6 through April 12. On PC, the demo is available through both Steam and Windows 10....

Ghost of Tsushima will have a day one patch when it releases on PS4 next month, it has been revealed. Just yesterday, developer Sucker Punch Productions confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima had gone gold, meaning that the team can now but its full weight behind post-launch updates. The Ghost of Tsushima day one patch will be 7.7GB, and with the average Internet speed in the United States being 18.7mb/s, it would take players just under seven minutes to download the patch and enjoy the game....

Someone at Sony Santa Monica is on point with the references, because God Of War on PS4 manages to give a nod to Marvel Studio’s smash hit Avengers: Infinity War. Even better, the easter egg was discovered within days of the movie’s release. This is obvious spoiler territory, so if you haven’t picked up the new God Of War yet or haven’t seen Infinity War (bless your soul being on the internet in that case), then turn back now....

When Santa Monica Studio released 2018’s God of War, the studio changed how the franchise tackles equipment and magic. God of War Ragnarok continues the precedent set by the soft reboot. In God of War and God of War Ragnarok, players can collect items called Runic Attacks and slot them into weapons. Each rune lets Kratos use a powerful elemental ability that can stun enemies, deal heavy damage, and control the battlefield....

Late last year, God of War director Cory Barlog revealed that a Dwarven duo named Brokk and Syndri would be responsible for Atreus and Kratos’ upgrades, also suggesting that the two dwarves would have their own narratives. Now, the developer has shed even more light on customization, revealing just how extensive the game’s upgrade system is. FIFA 19 launched to some solid reviews, but not without controversy. Currently, the publisher behind the soccer simulator, EA Sports, is considering replacing Cristiano Ronaldo as the game’s cover athlete after rape allegations have been made. Kathryn Mayorga has accused the athlete of raping her while in Las Vegas in 2009. At the time of this writing, Ronaldo is still the cover star, as he denies the allegation. In fact, not only did Ronaldo refer to her accusation as “fake news,” but his attorneys have threatened to sue the German magazine Der Spiegel for publishing her claims in a “blatantly illegal” manner....

Gamers were treated to many pleasant surprises at this year’s E3 conference. From Xbox One backward compatibility, to The Last Guardian gameplay, to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake announcement, there’s plenty for gamers to be excited about. But gamers aren’t the only ones who recently received a surprise, at least when it comes to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Turns out, the game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, didn’t even realize he was set to direct the Final Fantasy 7 Remake until he discovered it in an internal company presentation video for the game....

During a conference call with investors, Square Enix President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda suggested a window for a series of important announcements. He stated that the release dates for upcoming major titles could be revealed between “the end of FY2018/3 and E3.” Gamers excited for titles such as the Final Fantasy 7 Remake may anticipate an announcement between April and June of 2018. This might mean a Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date could be revealed early next year....
