Final Fantasy 15 gameplay footage leaks, and shows a dream sequence in the game featuring a younger version of Noctis as well as the Carbuncle summon. Later today, Square Enix is hosting a live stream for Final Fantasy 15. All we know about the live stream so far is that it will officially reveal the game’s release date, but now some footage has leaked online, perhaps indicating some additional announcements Square Enix has in store for Final Fantasy 15 today....

Few villains in gaming are as iconic– and misunderstood– as Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth. Although Final Fantasy VII Remake opens the floodgates as early as possible for Sephiroth’s inclusion, the original Final Fantasy VII very delicately builds up to Sephiroth’s reveal. Sephiroth lingers in the background, only becoming more menacing with time. By the time Sephiroth does appear, he quickly thrusts the story into chaos as his actions shape the world of Final Fantasy VII around him....

The introduction of Sephiroth’s character in Final Fantasy 7 Remake takes a different approach from that of the original Final Fantasy 7. In Remake, Sephiroth appears almost immediately, showing up by the game’s second chapter. In the original FF7, however, it takes several hours before players actually see the character on screen, and in the meantime, he is only mentioned indirectly by the game’s cast. When the team behind Final Fantasy 7 Remake sat down for a recent interview with the Square Enix blog, they received a question asking why they decided to change Sephiroth’s introduction....

For those who want to make Fire Emblem: Three Houses more like XCOM, Nintendo is on the case. On July 25, just hours before the game was scheduled to launch, Nintendo, publisher of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, announced on Twitter that there is an extra difficulty setting coming to the game later this year. There are currently two difficulty settings in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, including Normal and Hard. The Nintendo announcement hints at an even tougher difficulty setting above and beyond Hard....

One heartbroken fan of the Mars Opportunity Rover has started up a petition to get the recently deceased robot added to the Mortal Kombat 11 roster. It seems that fans are now getting a little too hungry for character crossovers, especially when it comes to the fighting genre. Square Enix’s Forspoken was released to the public just one day ago, but you’d think it has been out for a lifetime given how much people have been arguing about the game’s dialog. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to spend enough time with the retail version of Forspoken in order to offer anything close to a full review of the game. If there’s one game from the last few years that deserves a sequel, it’s Bloodborne. It wasn’t too great a departure from FromSoftware’s experiences, offering a fantastical and very challenging action RPG in the style of FromSoftware’ s genre-birthing Dark Souls. Even compared to other Soulslikes, from FromSoftware or otherwise, Bloodborne manages to stand out. However, even though it can be comfortably interpreted as a Dark Souls spin-off, Bloodborne stands tall in its own rights and is worthy of a sequel....

Fans of Frostpunk, the frigid city management survival game, have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of the game’s final DLC ever since 11-Bit Studios announced On the Edge as a content sequel to the base game. Now, PC players can get On the Edge via Humble Store, GOG.com, and Steam. On the Edge is the third expansion for Frostpunk and the final installment in the Season Pass. Frostpunk comes from the developers of This War of Mine, and both games share a theme of surviving against the odds in a harsh environment....

Halo Infinite and most other next-gen games may have an “infinitely” large file size to download, if one developer is to be believed. Ryan Shah, CEO and Lead Programmer of KITATUS and Friends told WCCF Tech that he believes that Unreal Engine 5 could make massive file sizes—as we have seen with Call of Duty: Warzone—the new normal, if developers don’t find a way to around the existing problem. Game sizes have been increasing over the last five years, regularly crossing the threshold of 100 GB, a size that was long considered infeasible....
