Epic Games, the studio behind Fortnite, is investing in Gilgamesh, their first-ever movie project. The film will be an animated epic that focuses on the titular figure from ancient Mesopotamian mythology. Production is currently underway on both Spanish and English versions of the film. Argentinian production companies DuermeVela and FilmSharks will develop the film. Latin-American studio Hook Up Animation will animate it using Epic’s free 3D design tool Unreal Engine. Director Tomás Lipgot will helm the project, which Epic Games is financing through their $100 million MegaGrants fund....

Team-killing is a problem in nearly every multiplayer game that supports friendly fire. It can frequently be accidental, but apparently Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode has seen a fair share of deliberate trolling; so much so that Epic Games has disabled friendly fire. When jumping into a game of Fortnite Battle Royale, players can queue with up to three of their friends, or go solo. However, they can also be matched with teammates online if they don’t have the full premade roster they desire....

Nintendo has started a new interview series, ‘Ask the Developer’, which as the name suggests puts developers and their games in the spotlight. For its first issue, the series has focussed on Game Builder Garage’s Kosuke Teshima and Naoki Masuda. The interview was conducted in Japanese and later translated by Nintendo. Masuda was the director and programmer for Game Builder Garage. He was previously in charge of planning and programming for Nintendo Labo....

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can track any type of animal while hunting using their scent and footprints, and apparently, the same goes for Bill Williamson. The character smells so bad, that his scent can been seen while using Eagle Eye vision, a technique normally reserved for hunting game. Mora is used for nearly everything in Genshin Impact, and as such, its a valuable resource to have. Ghost of Tsushima has become the third game developed in the West to receive a perfect score from popular Japanese magazine Famitsu. Ghost of Tsushima has yet to release to the public, being available worldwide on July 17, but review outlets were able to begin publishing reviews as early as the 14th. Currently, the PlayStation 4 exclusive title developed by Sucker Punch has an 84 on Metacritic. In addition to being only one of three games made in the West to get a perfect score from Famitsu, Ghost of Tsushima is also only the 27th game to ever get a perfect score from the outlet....

Those lucky enough to have pre-ordered a PlayStation 5 will be able to enjoy Ghost of Tsushima at 60 frames-per-second thanks to Game Boost. We’re still waiting on Sony to detail every game that will be backwards compatible with the upcoming PS5, but Sucker Punch has gotten ahead of them by announcing Ghost of Tsushima will not only be backwards compatible, but it’ll also benefit from the PS5’s beefier hardware. Expect better frame rates and faster loading times when playing the game on PS5 thanks to something Sony is calling Game Boost....

Ubisoft discusses the future of its forthcoming open world title Ghost Recon: Wildlands, declaring an open beta to be coming sometime during the “next quarter.” Today, during Ubisoft’s earnings call for the first half of its fiscal period of 2016-2017 ending on September 30, the publisher and developer mentioned that fans will be able to give Ghost Recon: Wildlands a go before its release date in March of next year. Nevertheless, a specific time frame for a trial wasn’t explicitly declared, as Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot said that there will be an open beta for Ghost Recon: Wildlands coming sometime “next quarter....

Santa Monica Studio’s Art Director Raf Grassetti has been active on social media for months posting fan art based on other pop culture properties. The God of War artist posted 16 Batman character designs based on The Animated Series from the 90s through an impressive collage back in April, and since then he has apparently shifted focus to do the same for Marvel Comics’ X-Men franchise. Grassetti posted his take on popular X-Men villain Magneto to Twitter Saturday, just one part in a series that so far boasts seven characters including Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Storm....
